Research Assistant

**Position Overview**
Reports to the Director of the Language and Cognitive Development Laboratory. Tasks in lab are varied with moderate to high complexity - primarily recruiting participants, conducting studies, training students and volunteers, coordinating lab research activities, and managing a participant database.
**Position Description**
**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Recruit participants for studies from a database
- conduct research activities with participants and their families (potentially both online and at the University of Calgary campus)
- Train students and staff in the use of study procedures and protocols
- Determine priorities and deadlines for self and others, and oversee the students, staff, and volunteer who work in the lab and conduct developmental research
- Oversee completion of projects and tasks with the supervisor
- Working in a laboratory space providing research support in the area of early development
- Work closely with the PIs, team members, and research participants
- Maintain the LCD Lab website
**Qualifications / Requirements**:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field
- Minimum 1 year experience working in a lab conducting child development or related research
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Intermediate level of expertise with Excel
- Excellent organizational skills; attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including an ability to work in a team environment with research participants and lab associates
- Strong ability to communicate and interact with participants and their families, as well as community organizations in a friendly, respectful, and timely manner
- Ability to follow specific directions and research protocols
- Knowledge of child development
- Knowledge and skills of recruitment and selection practices of research participants
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with undergraduate students, graduate students, research participants and professors
- Knowledge of eyetracking equipment/programs
