**Job summary**:
Provides recovery planning and implementation, case consultation, case management, referral and aftercare support for clients of the program. The position is also responsible for facilitating psycho-education programming and supporting youth to achieve academic credits and participate in school like activities. The primary focus of the Prevention Worker will be devoted to prevention/outreach activities and initiatives when and where appropriate to support long-term recovery.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:
1. Safeguarding staff and client privacy and safety.
2. Implements and participates in life skills, recreational, and /or social activities designed to meet the needs of clients, providing demonstrations as required. Adapts and modifies established activities to meet the special needs of clients.
3. Supports clients in managing issues related to housing, financial assistance, suicide and violence prevention.
4. Participates in the development of activities by providing input to senior positions.
5. Accompanies clients on outings such as appointments, shopping and leisure and recovery related activities.
6. Receives client feedback, inquiries, and complaints and responds as required.
7. Assists clients with activities of daily living promoting wellness and healthy behaviours and activities.
8. Completes and maintains related records and documentation such as statistics, progress reports, activity participation reports, observation reports and client activity profiles.
9. Performs limited food preparation.
10. Will conduct presentations and workshops to clients and community regarding substance use and misuse and mental health issues.
11. Assists clients in developing realistic ongoing plans for recovery and connects them to appropriate community resources as necessary for follow up or continued treatment.
12. Provides relapse prevention information concerning post-acute withdrawal, life management skills, relationships in recovery, spirituality, nutrition and other recovery focused issues.
13. Will assist client in following through with after-care or follow-up plans.
14. Supports case consultation with staff and other health professionals to ensure a consistent and integrated case management plan that responds to clients' needs. 15. Advises Program Coordinator and/or Executive Director of any case concerns regarding client progress and safety issues.

**Qualifications**:
Require BA with 2 years’ experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Current BC Driver’s License or Equivalent from another province
Completed Criminal Record Check.

**Education, Training and Experience**:
Experience in mental health and addictions with a demonstrated working knowledge of community based programs and related provincial and community support system is preferred and have current First Aid certificates.

**Job Skills and Abilities**:
1. Proficient in English.
2. Knowledge and fluency in another language would be an asset.
3. Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
4. Proficient teaching skills.
5. Good organization, time and general management skills.
6. Knowledge of group process and facilitation techniques.
7. Ability to work effectively with other program staff, therapists, social workers and other related staff.
8. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (word, excel, access database, PowerPoint), internet and Adobe Acrobat.

**Additional Information**:
This position requires the ability to work in an environment often dealing with clients or families in crisis situations. This position may require the applicant to work outside normal office hours and in various locations away from the office. Some evening work is required. A valid B.C. Driver’s license and use of personal vehicle is required. RASS will financially support adequate third party liability insurance coverage.

**Salary**: From $35.52 per hour
