ShelterCare is a complex care facility providing addictions, primary care, mental health and housing resources for individuals experiencing homelessness so participants can become healthier and housed - exiting the cycle of homelessness for good.
We are hiring for an individual who is committed to strength-based, person focused care to join our team as an Addiction Services, ShelterCare Manager. The Manager will possess and utilize their passion for coaching and developing people and teams. They will provide leadership for the 24/7 addictions programs provided within the shelter. The Manager will provide support to the supervisory and direct service team while coordinating the daily operations of the program. Professional registration, in good standing, is required (OCSWSSW, CRPO).
*** This is a permanent, salaried, full-time (37.5 hours per week) position with paid sick time, personal days, vacation time, group health benefits and defined contribution pension plan.**
**Schedule to be Monday to Friday. Some flexibility required based on program needs.**
**Successful completion of a Police Records Check (Vulnerable Sector) is required**
**pre-employment.**
**Valid G class driver’s licence is required. Access to a reliable vehicle is preferred.**
**Travel throughout the Waterloo Region.**
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Lead, develop and support the team of Supervisors as well as their teams (staff, volunteers, and students) working within assigned programs, including coaching, and development, team dynamics, conflict management
- Responsible for all aspects of leading a team including recruitment, retention, training and onboarding, supervision, performance assessment, development and management
- Responsible for the healthy and safe operation of the programs; ensuring a physically and psychologically healthy work environment for all team members
- Responsible for the allocation of staff, students and volunteers based on the needs of each program and/or site
- Responsible for all aspects of program operation including program development and review, program budget, allocation of resources, and relationships with funders and community partners, staff and participant safety
- Responsible for all aspects of program data collection including completing audits of staff logs and running reports to ensure data collected is reliable and valid
- Responsible for ongoing program evaluation and quality improvement, leading program reviews and program evaluation initiatives
- Maintain high level proficiency with respect to confidentiality in compliance with Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)
- Create reports and proposals to support or source funding
- Responsible for the management financial functions
- Responsible for property management functions
- Collaborate with partners and agencies to increase opportunities for innovation and positively affect outcomes
- Represent House of Friendship at various community development and neighborhood related meetings and community forums; bringing relevant issues and solutions to the conversation
- Take a lead role in community consultation and community development initiatives
- Maintaining partnerships, presence at appropriate community tables/communities of practice
- On-call responsibilities for after-hours emergency crisis
- Committed to service integration internally/externally
- Engage as a member of an interdisciplinary team to ensure intensive case management services are provided, evaluated and reported upon
- Strategic oversite over tracking, documentation and progression towards permanent housing through the HIFIS database
- Engagement with local, provincial and federal associations tied to supportive housing, affordable housing, addictions, mental health and homelessness
- Strategic oversite of the participant engagement strategy to ensure decision-making transparency, feedback, and program improvement through a human centered design process
- Collaboration and teamwork across many functions including housing, health, finance, development, police, city/regional officials, finance, and other service providers and partners within Waterloo Region
