Our men’s shelter program follows the ShelterCare model of providing a place to stay, with staff support, 24/7. ShelterCare creates opportunities where individuals experiencing homelessness have access to on-site, integrated housing and health supports so they can become healthier and housed - exiting the cycle of homelessness for good. The ShelterCare Manager of People and Culture will utilize their passion for coaching and developing people and teams. They will provide leadership for the program and the team by supporting the supervisory team members. This position works closely alongside the Manager of Operations to ensure strategic leadership and support for ShelterCare.

*** This is a permanent, full-time position (37.5 hours per week) position with paid sick time, personal days, vacation time; group health benefits and defined contribution pension plan.**

**Schedule primarily daytime hours. Flexibility required, including participation in the**

**on-call rotation.**

**Successful completion of Police Records Check (Vulnerable Sector) is required.**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Lead, develop, support and provide strategic leadership to the supervisory team, frontline shelter team, students and volunteers supporting the program
- Responsible for all aspects of leading a team including recruitment, retention, training and onboarding, supervision, performance assessment, development and management
- Develop and support people leaders to effectively and proactively manage employee performance through feedback, documentation, annual performance development planning and competency framework assessment; liaise with HR and supervisors regarding performance concerns as needed
- Support, coach and guide supervisors in navigating complex situations as they arise for our teams and the people we serve with a focus on team-wide debriefs when possible
- Responsible for the healthy and safe operation of the programs; ensuring a physically and psychologically healthy work environment for all team members
- Responsible for the allocation of staff, students and volunteers based on the needs of each program and/or site
- Responsible for the 24/7 program operation including day to day operations and crisis/emergency response and participation in the on-call rotation
- Navigate team discussion and disagreement in high crisis situations and make decisions with confidence when there are disagreements on best next steps; while balancing a trauma informed lens with the safety of the program in mind at the same time
- With the ShelterCare Manager, Operations, responsible for program operation including program development and review, program budget, allocation of resources, and relationships with funders and community partners, staff and participant safety
- With the ShelterCare Manager, Operations, responsible for program data collection including completing audits of staff logs and running reports to ensure data collected is reliable and valid
- With the ShelterCare Manager, Operations, responsible for ongoing program evaluation and quality improvement, leading program reviews and program evaluation initiatives
- Maintain high level proficiency with respect to confidentiality in compliance with Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)
- Create reports and proposals to support or source funding. Responsible for the management financial functions
- Collaborate with partners and agencies to increase opportunities for innovation and positively affect outcomes
- Represent House of Friendship at various housing related meetings and forums; bringing relevant issues and solutions to the conversation
- Take a lead role in community consultation and community leadership development initiatives
- Maintaining partnerships, presence at appropriate community tables/communities of practice
- On-call responsibilities for after-hours emergency crisis
- Committed to service integration internally/externally
