**About Us**:
The University of Toronto Libraries system is the largest academic library in Canada and is consistently ranked in the top ten among academic research libraries in North America. The system consists of 42 libraries located on three university campuses: St. George, Mississauga, and Scarborough. This array of college libraries, special collections, and specialized libraries and information centres supports the teaching and research requirements of over 300 graduate programs, more than 70 professional programs, and about 700 undergraduate degree programs. In addition to more than 15 million volumes in 341 languages, the library system currently provides access to millions of electronic resources in various forms and over 31,000 linear metres of archival material. More than 150,000 new print volumes are acquired each year. The Libraries' data centre houses more than 500 servers with a storage capacity of 1.5 petabytes
**Your Opportunity**:
Under the direction of the Acquisitions Manager, the Collections Specialist (Term) performs duties related to the acquisition, activation, processing, and copy cataloguing of library materials in all forms. An important member of the acquisitions and metadata services teams** **team, the Collections Specialist creates, downloads, and maintains accurate order and catalogue records in the Library’s resource management system, assists with the receiving, licensing & renewal of library materials, and supports the troubleshooting of e-resource access and other service problems.
**Qualifications (Minimum)**:
**EDUCATION**:
- University degree and/or acceptable equivalent combination of relevant education and experience required
**EXPERIENCE**:
- A minimum of one year of related experience working with records for the management of inventory or research data. Experience working in an academic or library setting is considered an asset.
**SKILLS**:
- Demonstrated ability to work with more than one data management platform simultaneously, and the facility to learn new systems and adapt to new technology and workflows.
- Demonstrated intermediate knowledge of spreadsheet software, including the ability to create, sort, and compare complex spreadsheets.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct online searches of bibliographic databases and assess quality of bibliographic records.
- Demonstrated ability to assess and interpret account statements and financial documents, and to process vendor invoices for payment
- Demonstrated ability to examine, update and create inventory records, to manage the receiving status of physical material, and to assist with the activation and management of e-resources
- Demonstrated ability to import and create order records, to assign vendor, fund and other order details, and to assist with the maintenance of order records in the library database
- Demonstrated strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and user service skills, and the ability to thrive in a team-based work environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to the values of inclusivity, diversity, anti-racism, equity and accessibility
- Ability to read non-English languages or musical scores considered an asset.
