Support Staff-Full time Replacement Position

(First consideration for Support Staff and Academic positions will be given to internal applicants in accordance with the respective Collective Agreements)

**Responsibilities**:

- Assisting students by offering advice on financial aid opportunities such as full and part-time OSAP programs, out-of-province government student aid programs, and Conestoga College bursary, scholarships, and work-study programs
- Responding to inquiries from other staff regarding student payments and arrangements as required
- Verifying identification and resetting OSAP PINs for students
- Interpreting policies and procedures in the context of the individual client, thereby maximizing client satisfaction and improving student access, success, and retention
- Verifying student full-time enrollment and processing Continuation of Interest-Free Status Forms (CIFS) for students not currently in receipt of OSAP
- Uploading OSAP paperwork submitted by students onto the Ministry’s online system
- Assisting Awards area with data entry and distributing bursary, award, and scholarship cheques to students
- Attending open houses and promotional events to explain financial aid opportunities to prospective students

Qualifications:

- Two-year Diploma in Office Administration, Business, or related field
- Two years of experience working in a customer service environment, preferably with financial aid experience
- Experience handling deposits and payments by cash, debit, and credit cards
- Highly developed client service skills that include excellent oral and written communication and listening skills, with a proven record of tact, diplomacy, and relational skills
- Ability to work with stressed clients and other stressful situations
- Understanding and appreciation of OSAP/financial issues and dealing with different types of people and situations
- Demonstrating empathy for different and complex financial situations
- Ability to communicate and explain complex information to diverse students in an understandable manner
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and in demanding situations, multitasking to meet deadlines
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Ability to determine when flexibility can and should be exercised
- Possess advanced numeracy skills and be comfortable working with detail while ensuring a high degree of accuracy
- Must be comfortable in a computerized environment - advanced skills, including Excel
- Experience with OSAP systems (One Key, BRS, etc.) preferred
