We are seeking a communications specialist who is committed to supporting the office of the Official Opposition at the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick. The successful applicant will develop relationship with media contacts and ensure that our team is communicating the Leader of the Opposition and our caucus's message efficiently and effectively.

**Skills and Attributes**:
Experience managing media relations and providing communications advice to senior officials** is an asset.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
The communications specialist will report to the Director of Communications.

They will be responsible for leading the office's external communications output, including:

- Creating written content such as speeches, op-eds, talking points, and social media content
- Designing and overseeing multimedia content production, such as videos, graphics, and infographics
- Preparing and distributing press releases, media advisories, and background materials
- Coordinating message consistency across all platforms and spokespersons
- They will also be responsible for maintaining relations with journalists, news editors, and media outlets. This includes arranging and coordinating media interviews and appearances for the Leader of the Opposition and members of the Official Opposition caucus.
- The communications specialist will also be expected to monitor media coverage of the Official Opposition.

**Logistics**:
The position is based in Fredericton with full-time employment with the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick. The position may require travel in the province and may require work beyond normal business hours, based on the activities of the Legislative Assembly.

The successful applicant will also participate in the public service benefits plan, which includes three weeks of annual paid leave.

The salary range is $60,000-$65,000 annually.
