Go Play Outside - Culture Support Leader

Term Contract Opportunity

**Location**: Abbotsford Parks, Recreation, and Culture Facilities

**Position Title**: Go Play Outside and Culture Support Leader

**Number of Positions**: 6

**Hours/days of Work**: Fridays and Saturdays for approximately 10 hours per week (additional shifts may be available as per operational needs and contractor availability)

**Start & End Date**: March 31, 2023 to November 25, 2023 (additional November and December shifts may be available as per operational needs and contractor availability)

**Rate of Pay**: $21.40 hourly + 4% in lieu of vacation

We are looking for creative and enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in arts, culture and recreation, and a passion for leading activities outdoors. The term of the Go Play Outside and Culture Leader position begins March 31, 2023 with Go Play Outside dates ending on November 25. Additional December shifts may be available as per operational needs and contractor availability. Supervisors will make efforts to accommodate time off requests during the program based on schedule and contractor availability.

**Responsibilities**:
Oversee all aspects of Go Play Outside activities

Provide a safe environment for participants

Work with staff, parents, and caregivers to provide service excellence

Hands on leader in the program, leading games, activities and crafts

Communicate with recreation programmer on daily basis

**Works with recreation staff team in**:
planning of activities, themes,

promotions, and events

organizing of supplies

scheduling, supervising, and safety of program staff and volunteers

dealing with customer service complaints and suggestions

assisting with special events at civic facilities, parks and satellite locations

**Qualifications**:
Previous day camp, leadership, or recreation experience

Outstanding leadership and customer service skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a culturally diverse community setting

Effective communication skills

Standard First Aid and CPR C with AED certification

Satisfactory criminal record check

Preference will be given to current post-secondary students

Preferred BCRPA High5 Certification

The applicant/incumbent will be required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check in order to work in this position and to report to their Manager if any criminal charges are laid against them that may be related to their employment.
