The New Vista Society is a non-profit organization committed to enriching the lives of residents, families and the community by providing care, support, and housing to seniors and families needing assistance. We offer independent living for low-income seniors and low to moderate income families.

We are seeking a full-time residential (live-in) building caretaker to work out of our Burnaby location. Schedule is Sunday-Thursday 8am-4pm.

The position of residential building caretaker includes a one-bedroom apartment at a reduced rate, competitive wage, good benefits and participation in the Municipal Pension Plan.

**Duties** include, but are not limited to:

- Cleaning of exterior areas of building and grounds
- Cleaning of interior building areas such as the lobby, laundry rooms and lounges
- Cleaning vacant suites
- Interacting with tenants, responding to concerns, complaints and disturbances
- Assisting the housing office with administrative tasks-such as delivering notices to tenants
- After-hours emergency on-call coverage. On call coverage is on a rotating schedule.

**Qualifications**:
We are looking for an energetic individual with strong janitorial and organizational skills. The successful applicant must have the following:

- Completion of a certificate in Building Service Worker, grade 12 diploma, and two years recent related experience or, and equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Must have reliable transportation including a Class 5 BC Driver’s License and access to a vehicle.

**Skills & Abilities**:

- Ability to communicate in English effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to engage in positive and respectful working relationships with staff, colleague, and residents.
- Must be able to carry out the physical aspects of the position including walking, stooping, standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, lifting light to medium weight objects, and performing repetitive movements.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
