**Building Caretaker**

**Regular Full-Time Position**

The New Vista Society is a non-profit organization committed to enriching the lives of residents, families and the community by providing care, support, and housing to seniors and families needing assistance. We offer independent living for low-income seniors and low to moderate income families.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Building Caretaker, responsibilities include janitorial, security, and limited administrative functions of residential apartment buildings and townhouses. Your primary task is to clean and maintain common areas, clean and prepare vacant suites for occupancy, perform lock changes, and perform light maintenance

**Compensation, Benefits and Hours of Work**:

- Monday to Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
- Full and comprehensive benefit plan
- 4 week vacation
- Municipal pension plan
- On-call/emergency responsibilities when designated

**Qualifications**:
We are looking for an energetic individual with strong janitorial and organizational skills. The successful applicant must have the following:

- Completion of a certificate in Building Service Worker, grade 12 diploma, and two years recent related experience or, and equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Must have reliable transportation including a Class 5 BC Driver’s License and access to a vehicle as there is daily travel between building site and housing office.
- Criminal Record Clearance for the Vulnerable Sector

**Skills & Abilities**:

- Ability to communicate in English effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to speak Korean an asset.
- Ability to engage in positive and respectful working relationships with staff, colleague, and residents.
- Must be able to carry out the physical aspects of the position including walking, stooping, standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, lifting light to medium weight objects, and performing repetitive movements.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From $49,000.00 per year
