_**Request for Proposal Grant Researcher/Writer**_
- **for The Help and Legal Centre of Northumberland**_
**Introduction**
The Help and Legal Centre of Northumberland (THLCN), a cornerstone of support in Northumberland County for over 40 years, invites proposals for professional grant researching and writing services to enhance our mission of aiding the most vulnerable and disadvantaged residents of our community. As an organization committed to reducing the hardships exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing economic challenges, we seek a talented individual or firm to secure the financial resources necessary for our vital programs and services.
**Background**
Northumberland County has seen a marked increase in residents struggling with the impacts of inflation, leading to a greater demand for THLCN's services. Our organization is comprised of two agencies. The first is the Northumberland Community Legal Centre, providing non-criminal legal aid to financially eligible clients. Our second agency, The Help Centre, assists eligible individuals before life’s problems involve the legal system. Our programs, including Money Management, Energy Assistance, Housing, Support for Seniors, English as a Second Language, and Income-Tax-Return Completion, are designed to improve well-being, enhance life skills, and provide financial and housing stability.
As it becomes increasingly hard to maintain a decent income, find employment and a safe and affordable place to live, we are helping more and more people keep their heads above water. Last year, the number of our clients grew to 8500 and we provided over 20 000 separate services to those folks Our services are a lifeline to lower-income families, seniors, newcomers, the unemployed, the homeless, and those at risk of homelessness, among others. However, the growing need within our community means we require additional financial support to continue our work.
**Proposal Requirements**
Proposals should include:
- Overview of your grant writing experience, particularly with non-profits or in the social service sector.
- Examples of successful grants written, especially those in similar fields or for similar services.
- Fee structure (hourly rate, per project, etc.) and an estimate of costs based on the scope of services.
**Evaluation Criteria**
Proposals will be evaluated based on:
- Experience and success in grant writing for non-profits or similar sectors.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by THLCN’s clientele and how our services address these challenges.
- Clarity and feasibility of the proposed approach.
- Cost-effectiveness.
**Join Us in Building a Stronger Community**
This is an opportunity to contribute to a resilient Northumberland County by securing the necessary funds to support those in greatest need. We look forward to partnering with a skilled grant researcher/writer who shares our commitment to community and service excellence.
