**Job Synopsis**
MCC Saskatchewan Thrift Shops seek to be a friendly,** **caring presence in their community, showing value and respect** **to all. Practicing and promoting faithful stewardship, care for God’s creation and raising funds for MCC are key components of the Thrift Shops.
This position is responsible to undertake research and data collection to support a variety of projects related to marketing, communications, têxtile recycling and the growth of the Thrift network in Saskatchewan. Fostering awareness of MCC and being an advocate for the work of the Thrift Shops are vital to this role.
This is a 1.0 FTE (37.5 hours/week) role, offered as a term position and ending August 23, 2024.

**Qualifications**
- Interest in, and studies in Marketing, Communications, or other related field (in process or completed).
- Strong writing and research abilities.
- Written and verbal communication skills within today's technologies, including social media platforms.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work with a variety of people and teams.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- A commitment to the mandate of growing the business of MCCS Thrift Shops.
- An interest in the projects and programs of MCC Saskatchewan.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Proven ability to collaborate and produce desired outcomes.
- Self-starter with an ability to work in a team environment.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently, and willing to take initiative, while at the same time responding direction.
- Passionate and enthusiastic about interacting with customers and volunteers; demonstrated interpersonal skills with people of all ages and ethnic backgrounds; friendly and outgoing.
- Satisfactory criminal record check, required.
- A valid drivers license is required.
**Key Responsibilties**
- Maintain a high level of integrity, reflecting MCC’s values of peacemaking, respect for all and unconditional love through daily interactions with volunteers, donors and customers.
General:
- Follow the MCCS Thrift Shop Mission Statement, consider ways in which the mission can be better incorporated into social media and marketing opportunities.
- Communicate the MCC mission and values and the mission of the Thrift Shop in a positive manner to relevant stakeholders.
- Model non-violent peacemaking in the workplace, community and church.
- Carry out other duties which arise in the work environment, under the Manager’s direction.
Marketing / Merchandising / Communication:
- Develop an online customer survey for the shops.
- Develop the survey, and upload it to the selected and approved online survey sit
- Develop process(es) and ways that shops can promote the survey to customers and encourage customers to complete the survey.
- Assist in the creation of a Thrift specific marketing guide for Thrift Shops to assist shops in developing their own annual marketing plans.
- Assist in the creation of public facing posters, social media posts and other material for shops.
- Support the work of creating a MCC Thrift gift card program.
Research:
- Research how Thrift competitors (Value Village, Mission Thrift, Salvation Army, etc ) market and promote their shops.
- Assess the mediums, themes and the messaging that competitors are using.
- Provide a report on the findings of the research.
- Collect and compile têxtile research data
- Visit every MCCS thrift shop at least twice and collect data on types, amounts, quality and condition of clothing received as donations. This work will be coordinated with the requirements of the University of Alberta Textile research project.
- Research the options and process for selling books online, based on the methods used by other MCC Thrift shops in Canada and the US.
- Provide a report on the options including a guide for MCCS Thrift shops to sell books online moving forward.

The MCC constituency includes churches, most belonging to Mennonite Church Saskatchewan and the SK Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. Rosthern Junior College, a Mennonite high school, is also a part of the constituency.
