**Research Development Specialist**:
The University of Saskatchewan's (USask) main campus is located in the vibrant city of Saskatoon on Treaty 6 territory and the traditional homeland of the Métis. **Primary Purpose**:To provide operational and strategic assistance for enhancing Tri Council success at USask. The Research Development Specialist works directly with the Usask Tri-Council leaders in driving, leading, and supporting initiatives and programs that promote research success and excellence. The Research Development Specialist is responsible for managing and administering programs, projects, processes, and activities that support Tri-Council research at the university.

**Nature of Work: T**he Research Development Specialist reports to Associate Vice President Research (Engagement) with accountabilities to the Tri Council leaders. This position is largely self-directed and independent, and therefore the workspace may be arranged in a hybrid format. The nature of work emphasizes working collectively with Faculty, Research Facilitators, Research Support Specialists, Associate/Vice Deans Research in different units and colleges across campus.

**Accountabilities**:

- Working directly with the Tri-Council Leaders, leads initiatives and continuous improvement processes which drive and enhance research activity.
- Effectively communicate expert knowledge of Tri-Council funding programs to the University research community.
- Manage, administer and create procedures for USask internal review and other support programs; continually adapt and revise programs, as required, in order to achieve USask goals.

- Collect data, manage information, and coordinate and assist in developing annual evaluations and statistical assessments of the historical success rates and internal review processes.
- Develop, maintain, and update website content for Tri-Council programs at USask.
- Provide expert planning, logístical, communications and other support for multiple campus-wide workshops and special events (e.g., Tri-Council visits to campus).
- Advise and liaise with Tri-Agency Leaders, Research Facilitators, staff, researchers to ensure seamless and efficient resolution of outstanding inquiries, activities and associated administrative processing.
- Manage and oversee the USask grants repository.

**Qualifications**
**Education**: A graduate degree in a relevant field.

**Experience**:

- Experience in research administration, project management and finance.
- A broad understanding of research proposal development and management of research funding programs.
- A demonstrated record of managing complex programs, program design and delivery.
- Experience working on website management systems.
- Experience working in a diverse and inclusive environment.
- Knowledge of Tri-Council programs is an asset.
- Financial knowledge of USask’s research financial reporting systems is an asset.
