**What this work is about**
- Initiate discussions with the public about various sustainability topics to develop awareness, understanding, and appreciation for water quality conservation and management of these resources. Encourage the public to ask questions.
- Invite the public to explore topics such as drinking water, water conservation, waste reduction and wastewater issues by using interactive activities provided for this purpose and connect visitors with relevant resources and information.
- Set up and take down equipment and display materials.
- Follow requirements of standard operating procedures for the water wagon, including water quality testing during set up and delivery.
- Photograph outreach in action and display set up at each community event.
- Maintain accurate records of conversations with the public using event evaluation forms.
- Travel to events throughout the Greater Metro Vancouver region.

**We’re building a dynamic team and specifically seeking those with**:

- Previous experience working with the public and/or delivering outreach programs is desired.
- A working understanding of the principles of engagement, suitable for various audiences effectively.
- A passion to meaningfully engage a broad audience in a way that inspires change in perspective and behaviour towards sustainability (i.e. choose to drink tap water over bottled water, etc.)
- A positive, outgoing attitude with strong interpersonal skills in English.
- Proven strategies to handle challenges as they arise and work under mínimal supervision.
- Examples of effectively contributing to a team-based work environment and collaborating in team meetings.
- Physical ability to stand for several hours outdoors and help with set up/take down of equipment and displays.
- Willingness to travel around the Greater Metro Vancouver area. The use of a personal vehicle and a driver’s license is required for some events, but not most. When necessary, a willingness to share the ride with a team member, as a driver or a passenger.
- Background in any discipline is accepted. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a connection to and an interest in how their studies could benefit from increased understanding of sustainability and/or water as a resource. As well, applicants should demonstrate how their competencies in communications and/or education are transferable to this work and how this work will help the applicant develop these further.

**RATE**:$21/hour with paid training provided. Rate increase for team members with sufficient experience, who return in subsequent years to mentor new team members.

**INTERVIEWS**:begin April 27 and 28, and will continue until all the positions are filled

**PAID TRAINING**: For those in the first round of hiring, indicate your availability to attend online training that will we scheduled for 1-2 hours on a weekday (TBA) during the week of May 16th through May 19th AND in-person training that will be scheduled for a weekday (TBA) during the week of May 22nd through May 26th in your cover letter.

Your involvement in this established team will represent part of a broader team involved in delivering other services. You will be connected to members of this team, as well as additional work-related opportunities that you may be interested in being considered for.
