The Mustard Seed is committed to helping people who are experiencing homelessness transition toward and maintain sustainable and healthy lifestyles. Permanent Supported Housing at The Mustard Seed provides a safe and supportive environment to all residents. The role of the Housing Supervisor is to over see staff, ensure the daily physical, emotional, social, and spiritual safety of residents and Housing Support Workers on-site; work collaboratively with internal departments and external agencies and encourage resident independence, community engagement and housing stability.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Provide support and assistance to Housing Support Workers and Housing Case Managers, Driver, Housing Support Worker Team Lead and Nurse
- Support a working relationship between the residents, Support Team, Property Management, and other internal departments or external community support as needed
- Ensures staff have up-to-date knowledge of pertinent policies, standards and procedures and adhere to same; takes immediate action to correct non-compliance, including safety protocols such as fire alarms and situations requiring emergency response; and completes and submits appropriate reports
- Leads a dedicated team by providing clear and consistent direction and promoting the team’s success through orientation, mentoring and guidance, and performance management
- Coordinate staff schedule and site coverage
- Oversee practicum student and summer internship placements in the Housing Program
- Develop and encourage Housing Support Workers and resident's in community engagement initiatives
- Develop and help implement Resident Care Plans
- Advocate for needed services and assist residents in meeting the obligations of residency
- Maintain a minimum caseload of residents
- Identify unhealthy coping mechanisms in clients and provide education on new & healthy mechanisms in planning for potential crisis to help deter them from falling back on toxic habits and cycling.
- Implement de-escalation techniques and conflict resolution strategies as needed.
- Alert co-workers and coordinate response in emergencies or whenever needing to approach a client to manage behaviours or if needing to de-escalate a situation.
- Make prompt emergency services calls in cases of imminent medical, suicidal or violence risk.
- Provide crisis intervention, as necessary
- Provide input into program evaluation upon request
- Keep clients’ records and information confidential, updated and secure
- Complete required training including but not limited to FOIP, First aid and CPR, Naloxone, NVCI and De-escalation certification and attend meetings
- Maintain professionalism and comply with all employment policies and guidelines outlined in the employment policies and handbook
- Provide medication assistance to residents who use the medication assistance program and coordinate with pharmacies as needed
- Submit maintenance requests as required.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**
- Degree/Diploma in Human Services field or 2 years related work experience
- Cultural sensitivity and respect for client individuality and self determination
- A broad knowledge of and experience working with Indigenous communities is an asset
- Knowledge of best practices in treatment of substance use disorders along with knowledge of recovery strategies.
- Knowledge of local and Saskatchewan recovery resources in the substance use field.
- Strong working knowledge of local health, financial, housing and social services agencies and organizations.
- Volunteer management experience considered an asset
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within a collaborative team environment
- Strong administrative and computer skills
- Conflict resolution skills and ability to manage staff performance and crisis situations
- A passion for developing community and being a part of ending homelessness in Saskatchewan
- Must be able to drive and meet all TMS requirements to do so
**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- This is a full-time position and requires some amount of flexibility.
- Scheduled and unscheduled on call and call ins are required when necessary to meet the need of the department.
