The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is responsible for the stewardship of the Port of Vancouver, Canada’s largest and most diversified port. The Engagement advisor, port forward plans, implements, and delivers the port authority’s scenario planning initiative, referred to as Port Forward. This role is responsible for planning and delivery of two primary streams of engagement activities: an internal stream of engagement for port authority employees and an external stream of engagement for the "Futures Group” comprised of senior leadership, port authority partners, customers, Indigenous communities, and stakeholders. This position plays a leading role in scenario planning processes and events, while working closely with scenario planning and event management consultants to ensure key milestones are met for Port Forward.

The Engagement advisor, port forward will:
Scenario planning
- Plan and deliver the port authority’s scenario planning initiative, by collaborating closely with consultants whose responsibilities are to build and facilitate scenario planning.
- Develop related materials such as presentations for internal and external audiences and briefing notes for senior leadership
- Plan and deliver workshops for both internal and external engagement streams
- Support analysis of key uncertainties related to the port authority’s scenarios, developing summary reports and presentations to communicate findings to a range of audiences

Future’s group and internal engagement
- Plan and lead engagement and communications activities, including participation and table facilitation at Port Forward employee and stakeholder workshops
- Develop and implement strategies, plans and tactics in relation to Future’s Group and employee engagement
- Advise consultants on program planning and delivery, and support achievement of key milestones
- Work with internal communications team to ensure employee engagement activities related to Port Forward are aligned with other departmental and organisational objectives and initiatives
- Incorporate Indigenous engagement opportunities in workshop planning and input in scenario planning drafts as appropriate

Workshop development and participation
- Work effectively with scenario planning and event management consultants to implement workshops
- Support the tracking of Future’s Group participation at each of the workshops, as well as other events such as participant dinners, learning journey’s and webinars
- Prepare briefing notes, letters and other materials for and on behalf of staff, executive and leadership at the port authority
- Support research and analysis on various topics identified by participants as part of the Port Forward process

Communications
- Lead the creation of engagement and communications materials for internal and external audiences. Provide general communications support on an as needed basis
- Support media relations efforts as they relate to Port Forward, as required.
- Normal office conditions with regular evening, weekend and off-site work. Flexibility to occasionally respond to issues during non-working hours._
