Standard industry codes power the aviation industry and enable a globally connected travel ecosystem. The Aviation Industry Identity Services department is at the heart of this, managing amongst others, airport codes, airline codes and distribution partner identification and verification on behalf of the wider travel industry.

The portfolio consists of 4 main product lines: Airline and Location Code Issuance, Global Data Products, Travel Professional ID Cards, and Mileage and Codes Publications. Together these products provide critical services for the standard identification of industry players and locations through codes, as well as the verification of these codes through a suite of different services and publications.

The Product Specialist, Mileage and Codes Publications reports to the Head, Aviation Industry Identity Services and will work closely with airlines and technology partners to manage and operate the Mileage Suite, an important aspect of airline tariff-setting processes. The Product Specialist will also be responsible for the airline and location coding publications and related products (Airline Coding Directory, Interline (MITA / BIETA) publications).

What your day would be like

The role will take overall ownership of the Mileage and Codes Publications products. The specific responsibilities include:

- Take ownership of product management activities related to the Mileage Suite and Coding Publications and develop and manage the product roadmap for the portfolio.
- Manage the day-to-day operations related to the Mileage Suite, including but not limited to, calculation and distribution of new mileages, responding to industry requests, and creation and publication of biannual editions.
- Work in coordination with the IATA Publications team and the Airline Coding team to oversee the operation / production functions for the Airline Coding Directory (ACD), City Coding Directory (CCD) and MITA / BIETA publications in cooperation with all relevant IATA SME’s, support functions and outside partners
- Define and execute marketing and sales strategies for the portfolio in collaboration with the Sales and Marketing teams
- Provide product and SME expertise in the Pricing Automation Group (PAG), an IATA working group consisting of airlines and technology partners, to lead and manage the conversations and discussions around the use of mileage for industry fare-setting purposes.
- Provide support to airlines, GDSs and other customer groups related to the use of the products contained within the portfolio
- Identify potential product enhancements and lead the generation of business requirements for the upcoming enhancement of the Mileage Platform.
- Ensure Business Continuity Plans are maintained and kept up-to-date.

- Analytical mindset, attention to detail to ensure quality, accuracy and consistency
- Fully competent with Microsoft Office
- Experience of managing and / or working with relational databases would be an advantage
- Experience in the aviation industry specifically in pricing and / or revenue accounting would be an advantage
- Ability to work with speed and quality, both independently and as part of a team
- Flexible, innovative and can-do mentality
- Fluency in written and spoken English, other languages desirable
