**Accounting Manager**

**Who we are**

We are seeking an _**Accounting Manager**_ who will be responsible for the day-to-day running of accounting activities of the association including A/P, A/R and the General Ledger as well as to supervise some staff. The incumbent will also oversee various reconciliations, analysis and reporting. The Accounting Manager will actively participate in the annual renewal of membership fees and assist the Senior Director, Finance in the preparation of the annual budget, as well as preparation and timely submission of financial reports to various stakeholders

**Responsibilities include**:

- Supervising the daily operations of the accounts receivable function and accounts payable function including posting of A/P entries
- Reviewing cheque run and the release of cheques
- Supervising month end closing process including posting of staff journal entries to the GL and review account reconciliations
- Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and internal business unit reports and distribute to stakeholders
- Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director, Finance

**Knowledge/Skills Required**:

- Enrolled in a CPA program
- 3 - 5 years accounting experience in a mid to large size corporation, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role
- Solid knowledge and understanding of full cycle accounting, financial statements, budgeting/forecasting, year-end functions
- Accomplished self-starter, confident and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Leadership, supervisory and communications skills
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Sound judgment, tact, discretion, diplomacy and professionalism
- Proven ability to prioritize workload effectively and meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel and Word)
- Knowledge of iMIS database, GP Dynamics and previous experience in a complex not-for
- profit is an asset
- Payroll designation and experience preferred
- Member of the National Payroll Institute would be an asset
