**Location**

1/33 Commerce Valley Dr. East, Markham, Ontario
- This is a hybrid role (remote & in-office) as the hiring team will require the student to come to the Markham office approximately 3 days a week. COVID-19 protocols are being strictly followed. _

**Program Term**
- This role is a 12-month position
- May 1, 2023 - April 26, 2024

**About the Department**

The Yield team is a functional group supporting high quality Graphics, CPU and APU products with the goal to reduce cost of manufacturing, while achieving committed time to market in a predictable and consistent fashion.

**The Role**

The Co-op student is expected to shadow a senior engineer (mentor). The student is expected to learn applied semiconductor knowledge as well as basic manufacturing flow. The student will receive hands on training and is expected to become an improved logical thinker and problem solver.

**What you’ll be doing**

A Yield Engineer conducts in-depth investigation and analysis to identify and eliminate causes of systematic and random yield loss.
- Yield analysis to improve supply and reduce cost of production.
- Fix identified problems by driving corrective actions.
- Product co-ownership to experience part of a full-time engineer’s job.
- Fun short (1 to 2 weeks) to long (2 to 3 months) projects to learn and innovate.

- Ability to identify, clarify and solve complex problems based on statistics in a timely fashion
- Presentation and communication skills
- AMD internal proprietary CAD tools

**Requirements**:

- Relevant course work completed in Statistics, Solid State and Semiconductor Device Physics, Computer Architecture, Digital and Analog Design, Semiconductor Manufacturing Process.
- Strong attention to details and an ability to learn on the job.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentations skills.
- Ability to design experiments and analyze results to solve problems
- Experience in using Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools
- General navigation and file management skills in Windows and UNIX
