The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.

This internship is located in UNEP/MLF at the Montreal duty station.

Interns work five days per week (35-40 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.

Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.

Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.

**Responsibilities**:
Under the general supervision of the Chief of Administration, and the direct supervision of the Information Management Officer, the intern will provide assistance to the Multilateral Fund Secretariat with the following duties:

- Provide support in the coordination of translation activities related to the work of the Fund Secretariat;
- Assist with providing translators with all references, terminology, and documentation necessary for accurate editing and translation of documents, publications and agreements;
- Assist in reviewing documents submitted for translation to determine whether all or part of text has been taken from previously translated sources and identify these sources;
- Provide support in the posting of documents on the Secretariat’s website;
- Identify and retrieve documents from the Multilateral Fund network and databases, search and retrieve information from the Internet and other sources as required;
- Identify and supply language versions of acronyms, quotations and background documentation useful for terminology and phraseology;
- Assist with organizing research materials in a reference folder in electronic and/or hardcopy form for ready use by editors and translators. This includes annotating the text submitted for editing and translation and providing reference sources in the relevant languages;
- Respond to translators’ queries arising from the translation of documents not submitted for referencing;
- Perform some informal editing functions and bring errors in text to the attention of submitting officer;
- Provide support in the organization and holding of meetings of the Executive Committee and any other events of the Multilateral Fund Secretariat, including in the preparation of documents;
- Assist with any other tasks, as required.

Education
a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);
c. Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation;
d. Preferred area of study: Languages, translation studies, information, communications, or related fields.

The applicant should have:
a. Analytical skills, good communication skills both written and oral;
b. Proficiency in computer skills, population of websites, use of databases, web-based platforms and relevant software;
