**Legal Counsel 3 (FTT)**

Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Dunsmuir 16

Employment type: Temporary Region: Lower Mainland

Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Hybrid

Annual salary: $ 107,000.00 - 135,300.00

**Position Highlights**
We are looking for a full-time lawyer to join our Corporate Legal team for 12 months. Working within the Legal Services
- oriented legal advice in the area of employment, litigation and compliance.

including directly advising business groups to navigate employment related matters and address litigation and compliance
risks.

**What you'll do**
- As a member of the Corporate Legal Services team, you would:

- Understand and effectively communicate BC Hydro's corporate values, priorities, and risk tolerances.
- Provide timely legal advice at a practical and strategic level with respect to complex employment, litigation andcompliance

matters in a variety of areas including workplace accommodation, occupational health and safety,dismissals, employment
policy, human rights, disputes and claims, and compliance/administrative law matters.
- Communicate evolving legal and strategic risks in an effective and concise manner to the Legal Services andbusiness

teams verbally and through briefing papers and legal opinions.
- Evaluate legal issues to identify practical and innovative business solutions that assist BC Hydro in achieving itsbusiness

objectives.
- Identify opportunities for the Legal Services team to drive efficiencies and mitigate legal risk.
- Report to the Senior Manager, Corporate Legal Services and work with other in-house and external legal counsel.
- Manage the scope and budget for work done by external legal counsel.
- Foster and promote a work environment that is productive, collaborative, inclusive and diverse.

**What you bring**
- You will have a current membership (or eligibility for membership) in the Law Society of British Columbia, plus aminimum

of 3 years of post-call experience, either in-house or with a law firm.
- You have strong drafting, negotiating, presentation and interpersonal skills, and excellent written and verbal

communication skills.
- You are a consensus builder who can effectively influence and work collaboratively with colleagues, business teams,
- senior leaders, external counsel and stakeholders.
- You are confident in expressing your views at different levels of the company.
- You have excellent judgment and integrity when managing multiple complex issues under tight time pressures.
- It would be an asset if you have experience with court proceedings, proceedings before administrative bodies, and

experience with mediation and arbitration.

experience at a P4 level role (senior intermediate to senior).
