Job Summary:
Join our dynamic legal team as a Legal Counsel, where you'll be a key contributor reporting directly to the General Counsel. This role is all about providing exceptional legal services to our internal clients while also collaborating with and supporting our talented legal team. What you'll be doing:
- Providing legal services to and acting as primary legal point of contact for Central 1 function(s) assigned by the General Counsel- Acting as primary legal point of contact for matters designated by the General Counsel from time to time such as non-disclosure agreements, review of client facing matters and sponsorship agreements- Assisting Senior Legal Counsel and the General Counsel with- Completion of transactions involving Central 1 including securities and lending transactions, RFPs, outsourcing agreements, the establishment of strategic partnerships and reorganizations-
- Reviewing and advising on securities disclosure-
- Advising the Corporate Secretary’s Office on governance matters and the drafting of corporate documentation-
- Providing legal support for the development of new products and services;-
- Assisting C1 business units and functions in identifying legal issues and risks and complying with regulations-
- Supporting the client development team with respect to contract review and other legal matters that arise in the course of their sales efforts-
- Advising on existing contractual arrangements and questions of contract interpretation-
- Managing projects, including those related to strategic initiatives-
- Managing external legal counsel; and managing litigation-
- Performing legal research and drafting legal memorandum- Developing and maintaining a thorough knowledge of Central 1’s business- Other duties as assigned by the General Counsel

What you'll have:
- 4+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably at a law firm and /or in house at a financial institution- Membership in good standing with the Law Society of B.C. or Ontario- Strong legal writing skills- Strong understanding of Canadian corporate and contract law- Experience drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements including outsourcing, technology, secured lending, commercial real estate and deposit/payments agreements- Familiarity with securities law, and relevant financial institutions regulatory requirements- Practical, results-oriented approach combined with strong interpersonal and communication skills- Strong organizational and client service skills- Ability to work independently and reliably under tight timeframes in a dynamic and varied environment- A team player that is willing to grow and continue to develop their legal skills with guidance from other legal team members- Willingness to tackle matters outside of areas of expertise- Ability to think practically and use sound judgment

**Salary**: $116,800
