This position is eligible for an adjunct faculty appointment through the Department of Physics at Brock University for teaching and research related to novel methods of cancer diagnosis and/or therapy. In the future, the Head of Medical Physics will help coordinate an academic relationship with McMaster University through their CAMPEP-accredited graduate level and residency programs.

**INFRASTRUCTURE**:
The successful applicant will join a rapidly growing radiation treatment program, and will play a significant role in the transformation of the program over the next five years.
- CT simulation has transitioned toward a state-of-the-art Canon Aquilion Exceed LB scanner;
- Treatment planning will evolve from the Philips Pinnacle to the RaySearch RayStation platform;
- MOSAIQ oncology information system has recently transitioned and implemented locally;
- Three Elekta Synergy/Agility linear accelerators will all be replaced with advanced radiation delivery systems capable of SRS/SBRT/VMAT/IGRT/SGRT. The first linear accelerator replacement is scheduled to be with the Varian Edge stereotactic platform;
- AI-based contouring is available using Limbus AI software modelling;
- Motion management is performed through the C-RAD Sentinel 4DCT and Catalyst HD systems;
- DICOM manipulation / PACS storage is managed using the MIMVista platform;

The Head of Medical Physics will play an important role in directing the implementation of the new treatment planning system, and guiding the pending linear accelerator replacements.

The region boasts world-class cultural and outdoor attractions throughout Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake, and adjoining areas; while the backdrop of the escarpment and surrounding lakes provides a network of beaches and trails to explore. Housing prices are reasonable compared to other major centers within southwestern Ontario, while an opportunity to live a cottage-like lifestyle exists without owning two separate homes. Quick access to the QEW provides a convenient artery to drive to Toronto or cross the US border for entertainment, shopping and travelling.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Ph.D. in Medical Physics or similar field required
- Canadian College of Physics in Medicine (CCPM) or American Board of Radiology (ABR) equivalent certification required
- Possession of CCPM fellowship certification preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of clinical medical physics experience, and five years in a leadership role
- Experience in change management, project management, and process improvement are considered an asset
- Experience managing staff in a multi-unionized environment
- Demonstrated clinical excellence and problem-solving skills, and proficiency in scientific/technical writing
- Knowledge and experience in a wide range of clinical therapeutic medical physics, such as radiation equipment acceptance testing, commissioning, and quality assurance, treatment planning, and clinical and technical protocol development radiation equipment
- Demonstrated ability to provide an environment for Medical Physics research and development
- Willingness to gain knowledge of relevant NH policies and procedures, and collective agreements will be required.
- Mentorship experience in people management, and strong inter-personal, organizational and communication skills
- Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset
- Consistent and regular attendance required.
