Reporting to the Director of Oncology and Palliative Care, the Clinical Specialist Radiation Therapist (CSRT) is a highly competent academic and clinical member of the division of radiation medicine, who demonstrates leadership and advanced knowledge, skills, and judgment, in the clinical and technical aspects of the care of patients with metastatic cancer.
The CSRT/APRT is a self-regulated professional, who works toward and attains autonomous practice in the triaging, assessing, prescribing, planning, and coordinated management of a defined group of patients referred to Walker Family Cancer Centre (WFCC) at Niagara Health. The CSRT/APRT will integrate research, theory and practical knowledge in order to exercise sound judgment within a variety of socio-cultural and organizational contexts, and bring a unique and significant contribution to the delivery of timely, patient-centered care of patients.
The CSRT/APRT will take counsel from the Head of Radiation Oncology and Head of Physics and work with the Manager of the Radiation Medicine program to support adherence of the radiation therapy team to process and operations. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team of medical and radiation oncologists, physicists, nurses, dietitians and social workers, they will work to optimize the care of patients and promote research, education and other strategic goals of the program. They will provide a pivotal and unique role in the patient journey beginning with initial referral, coordination of care, and after care. As such, their accountability and responsibility will include clinical and technical practice, quality, education, research, innovation and leadership activities. The CSRT/APRT will also perform cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or required by the program. To support the identification and development of personal learning goals, a mentorship program will be provided and on-going professional development will be supported. Following successful recruitment, an individualized career and learning plan would be initiated and supported through the first year and reviewed on an annual (or other agreed upon interval) basis.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Completion of a Master's degree or recognized equivalent preferred
- Graduate of accredited radiation therapy training program with Advanced Certification preferred
- 5 years practical experience preferred
- Previous experience and expertise in patient assessment an asset
- Knowledgeable of performance measurement including the development of indicators and benchmarking
- Ability to document procedures and write reports
- Ability to effectively lead a team
- Current Registration with CMRITO
- Current CPR Certification
- Current CAMRT membership
- Expert clinical skills to perform responsibilities of role
- Advanced knowledge of oncology, physics, and radiobiology
- Consistent and regular attendance required
- Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset
