**Position Summary**

The successful applicant with be primarily responsible for completing general repairs and assigned projects throughout PHC’s properties. A significant portion of time will involve carpentry, plumbing, and the investigation of required electrical, heating and appliance repairs. This self-starting person will be committed to the principles of customer service excellence. The applicant must have a working knowledge of the methods and practices sufficient to perform the work required in this position. Ability to follow instructions and to exercise tact and diplomacy is necessary. The Maintenance Repairer, Weekend Position will work weekend days (Friday, Saturday, and Sundays) and holidays, excluding Christmas Day.

**Responsibilities**
- Minor plumbing tasks including but not limited to unclogging drains, repairing, and caulking faucets, sinks, bathtubs, and toilets (e.g., replacing washers, stem and valve assembly, faucet spout or complete fixture); toilet flush repair or replacement including bowl and tank replacement repairs; replacing laundry tubs, sinks, and faucets
- Minor repairing of interior walls (e.g., plastering, gyproc and ceramic tile)
- Repairing or replacing wood or aluminum siding including eavestrough and downspouts
- Investigating the source of roof leaks and problems with roof vents, stacks
- Repairing of interior and exterior doors, windows, patio doors, and screens (e.g., locking devices, weatherstripping, splintered casing, and trim); caulking of windows including repairs to frames and replacement of damaged
- Removing and setting of floor tiles and installation and/or repairs to hardwood floors.
- Constructing, assembling, and repairing kitchen cabinets, cupboards, and vanities (e.g., adjusting or replacing of cabinet doors and hardware)
- Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g., ventilation)
- Performing general clean-up tasks to keep work area clean and free of excess debris
- Responding to requests from PHC non-union staff for maintenance property related tasks on weekend days and holidays (excluding Christmas Day)
- Travel to PHC properties as required

**Qualifications**
- Proven ability to complete a broad range of maintenance repairs; proficiency in the use of tools and equipment required to perform the functions of the position
- Minimum 2 years Diploma or Certification in carpentry, mechanics, facilities maintenance, building construction or equivalent or, minimum 1 year Diploma combined with 1 year apprenticeship Knowledge of the Fire Code and Residential Tenancy Act (RTA)
- Proficiency in the use of relevant tools and equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Valid driver’s license and be insurable
- Police and Vulnerable Sector check required
- Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination required
