**About the role**
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a **Regular full-time** **Specialist, Business Continuity** to join our dynamic **Enterprise Risk Management** team.
In this role, you will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of Canadian Blood Services’ Business Continuity Management (BCM) Program.
You will liaise with and coordinate the activities of internal and external stakeholders to ensure the resiliency, availability, integration, and currency of Business Continuity Plans. There may be instances when support to the Enterprise Risk Management Program may be necessary depending on operational requirements.
**Key responsibilities include**:
**Assist in the planning, implementation, ongoing development and maintenance of Canadian Blood Services’ BCM Program**:
- Support the Business Continuity Management Committee (BCMC) in providing assurance to the organization on resiliency and preparedness
- Maintain awareness of ISO 22301-2019 BCM Program standards and ensure Canadian Blood Services’ BCM practises and policies adhere to the ISO standard
- Grow and communicate the importance of the BCM Program within Canadian Blood Services
- Develop and maintain the Canadian Blood Services Incident Management structure
- Conduct periodic testing of Incident Management structure as well as business continuity and recovery plans, assess the results of testing, and make recommendations to enhance the BCM Program and the individual business continuity and recovery plans
- Lead the development and management of operational risk assessments to identify critical business processes, their associated dependencies and to address critical gaps
**Develop project plans and lead initiatives to further development of the BCM Program within Canadian Blood Services**:
- Partner with Canadian Blood Services management to identify and prioritize projects or activities required in the continual development and enhancement of business continuity and/or recovery plans
- Support Business Owners in the development and presentation of business cases and project plans for BCM Program-related activities or initiatives, and lead initiatives when necessary
- Ensure that project plans support the BCM Program Framework and ensure integration
- Coordinate the management of business continuity and recovery activities when the incident management structure is activated
- Provide expertise on response coordination during a national incident, including sharing of knowledge of the applicable business continuity plans and incident management structure, process, and tools
- Act as an intermediary between LERTS, BCM Team and/or Incident Management Team, whether local or national incident
- Ensure issues are properly escalated and addressed
**Represent Canadian Blood Services externally to ensure integration of Canadian Blood Services plans with stakeholder plans**:
- Review external stakeholder BCM program plans to identify and assess impacts and dependencies on Canadian Blood Services and coordinate internally
**Education, Training and Experience**:
- Post-secondary level education, preferably a university degree in a related field
- A minimum of six years of relevant experience is required
- In-depth comprehension of Supply Chain concepts and issues is preferred
- Sound knowledge of project management principles
- General management and leadership experience
**Demonstrated Skills and Abilities**:
- Highly motivated and self-managed with the ability to balance multiple priorities and multiple customer needs
- Ability to conceptualize, analyze, simplify, and communicate complex issues, processes and risks and make sound recommendations
- Ability to analyze complex problems interpret business needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions
