**Job Summary**

Vela Canada is assisting in the search for a great **part-time, support worker** to support a delightful woman in **Abbotsford** covering up to **24 hours** a week. The role is for a great individual who is keen on creating respectful relationships with the individual need. Also, this position aims to provide individual-centered assistance to help maintain her independence while achieving her personal goals. As her support worker, you will be performing the following duties and responsibilities.
- Administering and recording supplement(s)
- Assisting with personal care (ex: bathing, oral hygiene, skin care and toileting)
- Preparing meals and assisting the individual with basics tasks such as eating, and drinking
- Contributing to creating a positive environment for the individual
- Consistently ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for the individual
- Providing the individual with mobility support
- Providing companionship and emotional support to enhance her well-being
- Monitoring and reporting any changes in the individuals’ health conditions
- Performing housekeeping duties
- Other assigned duties by Microboard

**Qualifications**

Education & Experience Requirements
- Community Support Worker Certificate/Long Term Care Aid Certificate or equivalent experience
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate
- Experience working with individuals with any communication, and physical challenges
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience driving van

**Skills, Abilities & Knowledge**
- Knowledgeable of the local community, activities, and events
- Ability to support individuals who communicate through behavioral and physically means in a dignified manner
- Ability to the work as team player with family, friends, and Microboard members
- Empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Understanding of client confidentiality and privacy
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Basic computer literacy

**Special Requirements**
- Must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check including criminal record check or be willing to obtain one
- Valid driver’s abstract from ICBC
- Completed and signed Medical Consent Form
- Ability to safely move in various manners such as bending over and partial lifting.
- Flu shot, Hepatitis B Vaccine, Covid - 19 Vaccines, Tuberculosis screening

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent, Casual

Pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 24 per week
