**What You Will Do**

At Econoler International we’ve established a climate change and sustainable energy finance practice to respond to our client’s growing needs for guidance in the areas of climate change mitigation actions financing mechanisms and the design of sustainable financing strategies.

As an International Climate Finance Specialist, you will be working on various sustainable energy and climate financing projects involving the design, implementation, monitoring or impact evaluation of various green, sustainable energy, and climate change financing instruments/mechanisms/programs (e.g., credit instruments, risk-sharing facilities, insurance products, dedicated investment funds, etc.) adapted to the particular needs of international clients including international financial institutions (IFIs) and local financial institutions (LFIs).

- The objectives of this role:
Assess market barriers to implement climate/sustainable energy investments on a larger scale and in particular those specific barriers that prevent local financiers from providing targeted financing.
- Conduct feasibility studies, design, and implementation of diverse climate/sustainable finance products and mechanisms that target barriers to climate/sustainable energy project financing.
- Design, develop, and provide technical assistance for implementing climate/sustainable energy finance products, mechanisms, and programs for IFIs and LFIs.
- Review and identify the procedural changes that have to be made in the implementing financial institution so that it can successfully integrate new climate/sustainable energy finance products into its business portfolio.
- Collaborate with Econoler’s technical experts to develop appropriate financial terms and conditions of the new climate/sustainable energy finance products as matching solutions that are best suited to the technical aspects of the target climate investments and the implementing financial institution’s lending profile.
- Develop, design, and implement environmental and social management systems (ESMS) in LFIs.
- Provide training to the financial institution staff on the development and implementation of climate/sustainable energy finance products and programs as well as on ESMS.
- Act as advisor and support projects in North and Latin America and beyond as needed.

**What We Are Looking For**

Profile
- Experience in green bonds, adaptation finance, sustainability-linked loans, or other sustainable finance instruments
- Knowledge and experience in developing, designing, and implementing environmental and social management systems (ESMS) in LFIs
- Practical experience with the investment cycle for private sector climate projects in emerging markets
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English, French, and Spanish, with fluency in another language being an advantage.
- Location in the Americas (remote), with up to 20% travel
- Five to seven (5-7) years of experience in a finance-related field, including at least five (5) supporting climate and impact investment.
- Experience in developing and providing technical assistance for implementing IFI-supported climate/sustainable energy finance products and programs.
- Experience in the development, integration, or implementation of energy efficiency/renewable energy/climate finance products at the level of Commercial Banks or National Development Banks
- Experience in working with or in collaboration with international financial institutions (IFIs), such as IBRD, EBRD, AfDB, IADB, and EIB as well as bilateral institutions such as KFW, AFD, and GIZ, in developing countries and emerging economies in Latin America and the Caribbean, among others.
