Burlington, Canada Halton Learning Foundation Full time

HLF is a Halton-based charity whose sole purpose is to financially support students and schools in the Halton District School Board (HDSB). It operates separately from the HDSB.

The effectiveness, accuracy, and use of HLF’s financial systems are essential and are significant components to the success of HLF’s management. The main purpose of this role is to ensure data is recorded appropriately and to report meaningful information for decision making, performance measurement, compliance, reconciliation, and taxation.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Produce HLF’s financial statements after reconciling accounts, recording transactions, and producing reports using Foundant Technology’s CommunitySuite program
- Work with schools to ensure appropriate documentation with accurately coded invoices prior to payment
- Audit and process cheque requisitions including signatures for cheques and distribution to schools and vendors
- Month end closing, including posting accruals, prepayments and amortization journals
- Manage payroll services, insurance renewals and HST rebate calculations
- Update relevant spreadsheets (e.g., scholarships and school grants payment spreadsheets)
- Respond to vendor inquiries including reconciliation of vendor statements
- Prepare financial statements for scholarships
- Prepare documentation for audit and work with auditors as required
- Prepare financial reports for CEO, Finance & Audit Committee (FAC) and Board of Directors
- Develop and deliver financial reporting to FAC
- Follow policies, operations and procedure manuals
- Maintain files and documentation as per HLF policy
- Other duties as assigned

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Minimum of two years experience with a variety of accounting packages, financial systems and spreadsheet software
- Experience working in the charitable sector and with fund accounting software and/or donor databases is an asset
- Must have a good understanding of CRA guidelines for income tax receipting
- Ability to manage competing deadlines

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
