**Position: Program Facilitator**

**Hours: 35 hours per week, Temporary Full-Time.**

**Wage: $29 per hour**

Purpose Society, in collaboration with the City of Burnaby, the City of New Westminster, and Public Safety Canada, is seeking a Temporary Program Facilitator for the Burnaby and New Westminster Youth Hubs. This role is funded through the Building Safer Communities Fund and is contracted for 6-18 months, with the possibility of extension depending on future funding availability.

The program aims to support youth who may be involved in or at-risk of gang or gun-related activities in the community through prevention and intervention strategies. By addressing the sources of youth violence, this initiative seeks to empower young people and the community to create and implement solutions while maintaining public safety.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:

- Develop and implement evidence-based youth gang prevention and intervention strategies, including mentoring, life skills development, recreational, and mental health support.
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings and events to engage youth and community members in discussions about youth gang prevention and intervention strategies.
- Provide crisis intervention and support as needed to address immediate concerns or emergencies involving youth participants.
- Ensure that all program activities and interactions are culturally sensitive and inclusive, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of participants.
- Supervise and train program volunteers.
- Facilitate support groups and other therapeutic activities.
- Work collaboratively with community agencies and organizations in a coordinated practice model.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, criminology, counselling, or a related discipline.
- Experience in the field of youth and family services. Familiarity with the criminal justice system is an asset.
- Experience providing evidence-informed mental health services (i.e., trauma-informed, attachment-based, motivational, and group therapies).
- Knowledge about community resources and networks, including services in Burnaby and New Westminster.
- Well-developed interpersonal, conflict resolution, oral, and written communication skills.
- Valid First Aid/CPR; completion of required crisis intervention and suicide prevention training is an asset.
- Class 5 driver's license and vehicle required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a criminal record clearance working with vulnerable populations.
