**Position: Program Coordinator**

**35 hours per week - $31 per hour**

Purpose Society in partnership with the City of New Westminster and Public Safety Canada is currently in search of a **Full-Time Program Coordinator **for the New Westminster Youth Hub. This position is contracted until March 31, 2026.

The program aims to support youth who may be involved in or at-risk of gang or gun-related activities in the community through prevention and intervention strategies. By addressing the sources of youth violence, this initiative seeks to empower young people and the community to create and implement solutions while maintaining public safety.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:

- Develop and implement evidence-based youth gang prevention and intervention strategies, such as mentoring, life skills, pro-social activities, educational support, mental health, and employment workshops.
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings and events to engage youth and community members in discussions about youth gang prevention and intervention strategies.
- Facilitate support groups and therapeutic activities.
- Conduct evaluations to assess program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements based on feedback and data.
- Provide immediate support and intervention in crises, ensuring the safety and well-being of participants.
- Ensure that all program activities and interactions are culturally sensitive and inclusive, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of participants.
- Supervise and train program volunteers and staff.
- Work collaboratively with community agencies and organizations in a coordinated practice model.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice, psychology, counselling, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of three years of experience working with at-risk youth populations.
- Strong organizational and management skills.
- Experience providing evidence-informed mental health services (i.e., trauma-informed, attachment-based, motivational, and group therapies).
- Familiarity with local resources available to at-risk youth, including social services and support networks.
- Well-developed interpersonal, conflict resolution, oral and written communication skills.
- Experience facilitating workshops.
- Valid First Aid/CPR; completion of crisis intervention and suicide prevention training an asset.
- Class 5 driver license and vehicle required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a criminal record clearance working with vulnerable populations.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including regular evenings.
