The Lifesaving Society is a full-service provider of programs, products and services designed to save lives and prevent water-related injury since 1896. We are a leader and partner in the delivery of water safety education throughout Canada and around the world.
The **Program and Development Manager** is responsible for organizing and coordinating the strategic framework for programs, maintenance, enhancement, and development of programs, and providing strategic guidance and project management for the programs staff team.
The **Program and Development Manager** will be an excellent leader and will have experience in managing staff of different disciplines to produce results in a timely manner. They will also be able to develop efficient strategies and tactics to ensure that all programs deliver the desirable outcome for the organization and our mandate in preventing drowning and water-related injury.
**WHAT YOU’LL DO**
- Formulate, organize, and monitor inter-connected projects
- Decide on suitable strategies and objectives
- Coordinate cross-project activities
- Lead and evaluate projects and staff
- Develop and control deadlines, budgets, and activities
- Assume responsibility for program quality assurance
- Assess program performance and aim to maximize ROI
- Resolve projects’ higher scope issues
- Prepare reports for the Executive Director
**THE SKILLS YOU BRING**
- Thorough understanding of program and project management techniques and methods
- Excellent knowledge of performance evaluation and change management principles
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. InDesign, Illustrator)
- Outstanding leadership and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving ability
**THE REQUIRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS**
- Proven working experience as a Program Manager or other managerial position
- A Bachelor’s Degree in management or a relevant field is highly recommended
- Lifesaving Society Trainer certifications is a strong asset
- Experience with Lifesaving Society programs and services, including areas of drowning and injury prevention, lifesaving sport, safety management, and public education is highly recommended
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite; proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
- Knowledge of management principles as they relate to non-profit voluntary sector organizations
- Experience or knowledge of the aquatics industry is highly recommended
