Summary:
We are seeking an experienced underwriter to join our Direct & Facultative Lines Insurance team in
Bermuda in the capacity of VP, Underwriter. Reporting to the SVP, Property D&F Practice Leader, this
position will be responsible for assisting in the strategy, development, underwriting and maintenance of
the company’s Property Insurance business segment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage a portfolio of Commercial Property Insurance risks
Develop and enhance existing relationships with brokers and clients as well as identify and

establish new distribution relationships
Underwrite, price and negotiate accounts in line with the company’s strategy and risk appetite
Coordinate and execute upon all stages of the underwriting process such as marketing, risk

analysis, evaluating and prioritizing submissions, underwriting strategy, pricing programs and
submissions, contract negotiation and contract maintenance

Exercise discretion and independent judgment in the analysis and evaluation of risks
Identify and drive new product development opportunities, including working proactively with

other underwriting teams to identify and capitalize on cross sell opportunities
Assist in the training and development of underwriting and technical staff
Work with modeling, actuarial and claims resources where appropriate across the portfolio

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

At least 8 years’ Property Insurance experience
University degree with major in Business preferred
Strong analytical skills with proven track record of handling complex casualty risk managed

accounts, standard Property Insurance policies and endorsements
Established and significant relationships with on and off-island producers and customers
Demonstrable experience developing new business

Proven ability to effectively interact, communicate and negotiate with all levels of external and/or
internal business partners

Deep understanding of U.S. and Bermuda Property Insurance markets and protocols
Demonstrated people and process management skills
Ability to travel at short notice and work extended hours
