**What’s the ask?**

Reporting to the Manager, Technical Services, the Underwriting Specialist is responsible for providing analytics excellence to our Third-Party Administration (TPA) and Third-Party Payment (TPP) national and international group benefits clients.

More specifically, the Underwriting Specialist will:

- Assessment, negotiation, report writing, and presentation preparation related to group renewals;
- Peer review analysis of regular reporting;
- Preparation and validation of plans’ demographic data to provide to carriers prior to renewal
- Manipulation of exported plan performance data to create reports used in the renewal process.
- Calculation of recommended rate adjustments using the exported plan performance data.
- Assessment, negotiation, and report/presentation preparation for marketing and peer review of quote comparisons;
- Analysis of carrier change financial/rate implications to client's budget;
- Analysis of carrier financial reports & peer review of estimated financials;
- Price and analyze costings including assessment and analysis of alternative funding arrangements;
- Perform commission reconciliations and analysis;
- Analysis of financial benchmarking and preparation of reports/presentations;
- Assist on specific projects, initiatives, and research
**What does it take?**
- Completed post-secondary degree or a combination of equivalent professional experience and training
- 3 to 5 years of professional work experience in a similar role
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel, PowerPoint & Word
- Exceptional analytical and numerical skills;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Ability to prioritize & adapt to work in a fast-paced environment;
- Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy;
- Able to work independently and self-motivated;
- Demonstrates sound judgment, ethics, and integrity;
- Creative problem solver with the ability to identify issues, recommend solutions and create suitable plans for resolution;
- Strong customer service and caring attitude;
- Bilingualism in French & English (verbal & written), a strong asset
