**The Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Supervisor, ITS Infrastructure & Security you will have the opportunity to design, implement, and maintain all ITS Infrastructure Platforms. You will have the responsibility of implanting and monitoring security platforms and you will collaborate with ITS staff to identify, recommend, and implement technology solutions. You will provide secure connectivity to regional services and staff.

You will design, implement, and maintain security solutions to safeguard the platform.

You will monitor and maintain infrastructure as per internet and security policies and provide technical assistance to investigate policy infractions, as requested.

You will have the opportunity to attend meetings with clients and other ITS staff to identify infrastructure and security requirements for new systems and to collaborate on designing new systems.

You will monitor and update security measures, software, settings, and permissions to address security threats both internal and external.

You will establish secure interconnectivity between offices, buildings, satellite and wireless sites, Regional and Provincial networks, remote users, and internal and external Cloud services.

You will design and administer user access rights and usage policies and operate under the Principle of Least Privilege for access to Data in the Region of Waterloo.

Using your knowledge and experience you will develop and implement system and service security specifications and review new programs to ensure compliance with specification standards and determine security controls.

You will build automation platforms for ITS infrastructure automation, working closely with ITS groups to ensure automation tasks are efficient and integrated.

You will use your expertise to evaluate network, server, storage, wireless, and backup systems for performance, availability, use, reliability, and optimization, with network analysts. You will plan and review changes to the platform, considering current/future requirements and test software, patches, and upgrades, with network analysts.

You will develop business continuity and disaster recovery policies and procedures with other ITS staff.

You will provide technical expertise at regional construction sites, attend related project meetings, and participate in the design, planning, construction, installation, and removal of network infrastructure.

You will have the opportunity to investigate new technologies, security threats, viruses, and malware. You will be responsible for performing risk assessments and security analysis to ensure security measures are effective and current. You will review project plans and specifications drafted by vendors, consultants, and contractors to ensure suitability with corporate infrastructure.

You will provide platform and security-related technical support to other ITS staff and resolve problems escalated by network analysts.

You will enforce access and use policies.

You will provide recommendations and cost estimates for platform and security-related components and advise clients on platform and security-related purchases, assisting with contract negotiations and payment as required.

You will communicate with staff in all departments at meetings and provide technical support/training and respond to technical inquiries.

You will exchange information with vendors and other external agencies to resolve product issues and investigate specifications.
