VIU's Faculty of Health Sciences and Human Services' Professional Development and Training Department is seeking instructors to deliver courses within the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician certificate program held online and at various Island Health hospitals for the 2024/2025 academic year.

**Duties**:
Plan, prepare and instruct program courses; use creative adult learning strategies in the preparation and delivery of online classroom learning and/or in-person clinical skills and practicum learning; assessment and evaluation of student learning; recording and submitting grades; providing support to students to ensure their success; working collaboratively with colleagues and industry partners.

**Required Qualifications**:
Medical Device Reprocessing Technician certificate or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution. Minimum 5 years of current and relevant experience as a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician in a hospital environment.
- Demonstrated competence for teaching or training adult learners, using a variety of online and/or in-person teaching strategies to address different learning styles and a diverse student population.
- A solid understanding of the scope and role of a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician within Island Health.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the content covered in the course(s) being taught.
- Ability to work with a high degree of independence while maintaining effective working relationships with relevant VIU department staff and partners.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of relevant technology and software.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Provincial Instructors Diploma
- Experience instructing in a post-secondary educational institution
- Familiarity with online teaching platforms, for example D2L
