As a Science Research Manager, in collaboration with colleagues and with input from your team, you will provide leadership and direction to scientific and technical teams that may be spread across Canada. This will include establishing the scientific vision, as well as working to recruit and develop talented individuals with diverse backgrounds, skills, and competencies. As a member of the management team, you will contribute actively to providing authoritative, relevant and timely information on meteorology, the atmosphere or water to inform the development of policies, regulations and services that meet the needs of Canadians. You will also have the opportunity to represent Canada in national and international fora.

**Intent of the process**:
The intent of this process is to staff the following (6) six positions:
1. Manager, Atmospheric Numerical Weather Prediction Research within the Meteorological Research Division located in Dorval;
2. Manager, Terrestrial Environmental Numerical Weather Prediction Research within the Meteorological Research Division located in Dorval;
3. Manager, High Impact Weather Research within the Meteorological Research Division located in Toronto;
4. Manager, Analysis and Air Quality Section located in Ottawa (River Road);
5. Research Programs Manager, Watershed Hydrology and Ecology Research Division located in Burlington;
6. Research Program Manager, Aquatic Contaminants and Research Division, located in Burlington and/or Montreal.

A pool may be created to staff vacant positions with various tenures (indeterminate, specified period, deployment, acting, acting extensions, assignment, secondment), language requirements (English Essential, French essential, Bilingual imperative (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC) and/or security requirements (reliability or secret) within Environment and Climate Change Canada across Canada.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with an acceptable doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field of the natural sciences related to the duties of the position, or the employer-approved alternative*
- The employer-approved alternative for the SE classification is an acceptable master’s or bachelor’s degree coupled with acceptable research, training and experience. The degree must be from a recognized post-secondary institution and in scientific fields and specialties related to the duties of the position. The training and experience must clearly demonstrate the ability to do personal research of doctoral degree calibre.
