As the Bus Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for the administration, delivery, and supervision of the Bus Facilities maintenance program for Transit Centres, bus stops, and Edmonton Transit Service -ETS spaces within bus garages.

- Manage and monitor the implementation of maintenance programs and services to ensure objectives, standards, and service levels are met
- Manage and evaluate program delivery provided by other departments to ensure deliverables are being met
- Oversee the preparation of specifications and tender documents for material purchases, while managing contracts
- Manage staff from multiple bargaining units and independently perform several human resources functions including: hiring staff, performance evaluations, coaching, providing discipline, absence monitoring, and managing the OH&S safety program
- Respond to, investigate, and take action on inquiries from the public, city departments, and suppliers
- Develop, review, and measure key performance indicators and statistics to make effective recommendations to help improve maintenance programs, standards, service levels, and maintenance contracts
- Lead, establish and exemplify the desired culture throughout the work group, in support of the City Operations Vision, Mission and Commitments
- Manage large dollar value contracts, authorize expenditures, manage the operating Bus Facilities Maintenance operating budget, and complete monthly variance reports
- Plan resource requirements, recruits and develops a positive, competent team which is results oriented, fully committed to achieving Sections goals and objectives
- Ensure the activities and performance of employees and contractors is planned, coordinated, monitored and evaluated
- Investigate employee disciplinary matters, provide notice of investigations, and ensure corrective measures are implemented as required. Address any issues of absence under the attendance management program ensuring early intervention in the absence cycle and coordinating return to work plans
- Provide guidance and direction in hiring and retaining staff, including reviewing and assessing the duties, responsibilities, and workflow of the unit’s staff in order to realign duties to more effectively build staff capacity and capitalize on its strength

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of a Diploma or Degree in a technical field. Bachelor of sciences or engineering would be an asset (Mechanical or Civil)
- Eligible for registration with ASET as a CET
- Eligible for registration with APEGA as a P. Eng would be an asset
- Membership with PMI with a PMP would be an asset
- 5 years progressive responsibility in a facility maintenance environment
- Knowledge of Transit Facilities operations and maintenance would be an asset
- Knowledge of City budgetary procedures, management, information system, policies and procedures would be an asset
- Knowledge of computerized maintenance programs and project management systems
- Understanding of the operation of construction equipment including loaders, bobcats and tandem trucks; knowledge of building systems and construction is an asset
- Knowledge of facility maintenance practices along with skills pertaining to leadership and management
- Effective leadership skills with the ability to create focus, engagement, and commitment in complex environments with diverse groups of people
- Ability to anticipate, assess and readily adapt to changing priorities, maintain resilience in times of uncertainty and effectively work and lead in a changing environment
- Ability to effectively interact, communicate, influence, and collaborate with a variety of partners and stakeholders including staff at all levels, union representatives, vendors, and contractors
- Ability to work with a high degree of independence and judgment
- Results driven focus with experience in accountability frameworks, and performance management systems
- Project management skills with demonstrated ability to establish, direct and motivate staff to deliver work in a timely manner
- Excellent negotiation, problem solving, and conflict management skills
- Excellent leadership and human resource management skills including performance development and improvement, interdisciplinary team building, and individual and team supervision
- Proven skills in leading and motivating teams with a track record of building healthy and positive workplace environments that enable staff to reach their potential while strengthening organizational capacities
