Are you an individual that wants to make a difference and empower others? Strathcona County has an exciting opportunity with our Victim Services Unit. The Advocate Services Coordinator connects with the community, working alongside RCMP members and community partners to manage and develop the volunteer advocate services program. Using their knowledge of volunteer management, the ASC will oversee recruitment, training and development of the advocate services program.

**This posting is for 1 temporary full-time position up to 3 years
**Responsibilities:
- Create annual community engagement plans in consultation with the Supervisor
- Develop partnerships with other volunteer coordinators in the region to share best practices
- Host both in person and virtual events to promote awareness of the program, public safety and advocacy for victims
- Develop recruitment strategies to recruit volunteers
- Respond to inquiries regarding volunteer opportunities
- Orientation and Training schedule volunteers for training in accordance with standards and requirements of the Ministry of Justice and Solicitor General.
- Assign and meet with mentor to review on site training for evening advocates
- Answer inquiries and provide support and referrals to victim services clients, ensure follow up is completed
- Provide assistance to RCMP members when requested including supporting victims at the detachment or on scene
- Assist victims of crime by providing crisis intervention support and preliminary needs assessment
- Assume on call duties as part of staff rotation
- Complete documentation of interactions with clients into VSCM database
- Maintain social media presence of the organization through the development and delivery of a social media calendar
- Prepare for and participate in weekly staff meetings and case reviews Complete human resources documentation including annual performance planning and review, bi weekly time sheets and quarterly reports

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Volunteer management certificate and 3 years experience managing volunteer resources.
- Strong ability to manage multiple social media platforms
- Excellent inter-personal communications including interviewing
- Knowledge of crisis intervention, victim services, criminal justice system assets
- Experience in organizing and hosting events, trainings, and meetings in person and online
- Experience in organizing and facilitating meetings, trainings, events in person and online
- Ability to create and maintain healthy professional boundaries
- Ability to manage volunteers’ expectations and needs Knowledge of volunteer engagement and management

**Conditions of Employment**
- Ability to obtain an RCMP Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance Ability to work a flexible schedule, including on call, evenings and weekends
