9 Story Media Group is an industry leading creator, producer and distributor of award-winning animated and live action content for young audiences around the world.

The Manager, Production Accounting reports to the Director, Production Finance and leads a team of production accountants.

**Key Responsibilities**

Leadership:

- Develop, coach and lead team of production accountants
- Determine show allocation amongst team and communicate any updates to all relevant parties
- Lead weekly calls with production accounting team

Production Financial Reporting:

- Prepare monthly consolidation reporting packages for all production companies; including retained earnings and income statement reconciliations
- Review and upload all production company trial balances and consolidation entries into Oracle
- Perform detailed review of month end reporting packages and confirm accuracy of audit backups
- Perform intercompany and overhead reconciliations
- Work with external auditor on quarterly reviews and year end financial audit
- Work with corporate accounting team, Scholastic accounting team, consultants and external auditors on documentation and implementation of internal control for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance

Production Accounting and Cost Reporting:

- Oversee production accounting functions and assist accountants with issues and questions
- Bi-weekly approvals of production payments (payroll, wires, transfers, cheques)
- Lead monthly cost report meeting with production team, analyze variances and manage overages (with Producers)
- Lead cost report meetings with external clients
- Manage overhead allocations
- Review and ensure timely filing of HST returns
- Assist with production cashflow and tax credit filing preparation

Other:

- Identify and implement process improvements
- Other tasks, analysis and activities as reasonably required by 9 Story/Scholastic

**Key Requirements**

Qualifications:

- CPA and university degree in Commerce/Business (or related field)
- 2+ years experience managing or leading teams
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Media/entertainment industry experience
- Consolidation reporting experience is preferred
- Experience with use of Oracle accounting software is preferred
- Knowledge on Canadian Media Tax Credits is preferred
