The Willow Winds Support Network (previously Northwest Central Alberta) is seeking to hire

a Transitional Mentor for their highly successful In Reach program, which provides Fetal Alcohol

Spectrum Disorder (FASD) supports and services to federal and provincial justice facilities and

programs in the Edmonton region.

The purpose of this position is to provide:
1. Short-term relational support for offenders being released from corrections facilities

in Edmonton who have possible or diagnosed Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). Referrals come

from In Reach Coordinators

2. Connection to released community resources.

3. Assistance with government supports including but not limited to: Identification documents,

Alberta Income for Severely Handicapped (AISH), Person with Developmental Disabilities

(PDD), Income and Employment Support

4. Assistance with housing

5. Connection to mental health supports

6. Connection to medical/dental supports

7. Connection to addiction supports

8. Support through FASD Clinic including acquiring Prenatal Alcohol Exposure confirmation

(PAE), referral information gathering and documentation

9. Connection to released individuals family and natural supports, if asked, to inform

them of FASD probability/diagnosis and how it impacts individual

10. Facilitate FASD trainings to community supports to increase their FASD capacity

11. Actively seek out community resources and build community support resource base

12. Collect and enter data for In Reach evaluation and the Government of Alberta’s online reporting

system, ORS.
- Minimum of a diploma in the justice, social work, psychology, counselling or a relatable

sector.
- Minimum of 5 years employment experience in justice, psychology, counselling or relatable

sector
- Demonstrate high level of knowledge of FASD and experience in working with people with the

disability.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and experience with Edmonton’s community support service

organizations, government and NGO
- Public Speaking experience and confidence.
- Ability and confidence to work alone with vulnerable populations in Edmonton’s downtown and

other cores safely, with little supervision
- High level of communication skills including active listening skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Ability and comfort transporting individuals who are justice involved.
- A reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, driver’s abstract,

$2,000,000 liability insurance, vulnerable population criminal record & child welfare checks are

standard for this position.
- Ability to work a flexible 37.5 hours workweek with scheduling based on needs of the client

population served. Some evenings and weekends are expected.

*Education and experience working with northern Alberta’s Indigenous populations is an asset.

*Ability to speak Cree is an asset.

This is a full time, contract position, based on funding.

Salary range is $65,000 to $85,000 based on education and experience.
