**WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR**
**Advisor, Corporate Communications**
The Advisor, Corporate Communications is a crucial position within Tennis Canada’s evolving communications team. This role is at the heart of Tennis Canada’s initiatives, with a particular focus on corporate and internal communications, as well as the National Bank Open presented by Rogers.
**General Communications**:
- Play an integral role in the day-to-day operations of the communications department.
- Support Tennis Canada’s overarching media relations strategy.
- Research, write and edit press releases, advisories and media pitches.
- Review public-facing materials when required.
- Manage and maintain the Tennis Canada Virtual Media Centre.
- Produce and deliver media coverage reports using Meltwater/CISION, or comparable media reporting tool, and be prepared to present the results to internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Produce content for Tennis Canada’s digital channels when required.
**Corporate Communications**:
- Play a key role in the communications team’s corporate communications efforts, including internal communication.
- Responsible for delivering communications strategies for the organization’s sport safety, fund development and mental health initiatives.
- Assist the Senior Manager, Corporate and Strategic Communications in developing and delivering a year-round internal communications plan, in close collaboration with the People & Culture department.
- Play a key role in the development and management of an intranet platform, working closely with internal departments.
- Coordinate Tennis Canada’s translation process, including relationships with vendors.
- Develop key messages and provide guidance for Tennis Canada staff and spokespeople on sporting and wider issues, ensuring they are fully prepared for any potential media activity.
- Support the communications team’s relationships with key internal stakeholders including, but not limited to the Board of Directors, Corporate Partnerships, Ticketing, IT, Operations, Marketing, Digital, Finance, Professional Events, People & Culture and High Performance teams, as well as the CEO’s office.
**National Bank Open presented by Rogers**:
- Play a crucial role in the development and delivery of key messages for spokespeople on tournament and federation matters in the leadup to, during and after the National Bank Open.
- Act as the point person for all communications deliverables relating to on-court ceremonies and off-court corporate events.
- Play a key role in the development and execution of the media relations and communications strategy, including planning and managing logistics for media and public relations events prior to and during the tournament.
- Develop and maintain relationships with international and domestic media before, during and after the event.
- Produce content for the National Bank Open’s digital channels when required.
- Research, write and edit press releases, advisories and media pitches.
- Review public-facing materials when required, including ticketholder and stakeholder communications.
**WHO YOU ARE**
- College diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Sports Management, Sports Journalism, or related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of corporate communications experience, ideally at a sports organization or NSO.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications (oral and written) skills.
- Ability to manage large volumes of work and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Meltwater/CISION or comparable media reporting tool.
- A team player capable of working without supervision, whilst maintaining high standards.
- Knowledge of a broad range of corporate communications documents and tools (press releases, media advisories, internal communications tactics etc.)
- A strong grasp on the Canadian tennis landscape is an asset.
- Bilingualism is required.
