**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**

Community Justice Counsellors offer client-centered services that provide strength-based individual education, assessment and counselling to youth and adults involved in the legal system. The primary focus for client service delivery would be supporting the Bail Verification and Supervision Program, Extra Judicial Sanctions, Extra Judicial Measures, court imposed and negotiated sanctions.

Assesses to determine eligibility for the program, presents assessments to the Crown and other judiciary members, manages case load of youth and adult clients involved in the Bail Program, develops service plans, monitors compliance with court-imposed sanctions, provides counselling and crisis intervention, documents case notes, creates case management and statistical reports.

As a Community Justice Counsellor, you will:

- Assist in other Community Justice programs: intakes, court coverage, meeting with clients.
- Respond to client needs by providing support counselling, information and by liaising with resources, supports and referral sources.

**Hours of work**: 37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday from 830am-430pm. Weekends as scheduled for group facilitation and/or program needs, and one late night every 3 weeks from 11:00am to 7:00pm

**The primary office location is Simcoe Court House and may require attendance in Brantford.**

**18 Month Contract**

Hourly wage: $27.73-$30.43 plus shift premiums and comprehensive benefits

**REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS**
- Have a college diploma in a Human/Social Services field.
- Have a minimum 2-year combined student placement and/or paid experience working with individuals involved in the justice system.
- Have a knowledge of the Criminal Justice System
- Possess effective problem solving and communication skills.
- Have the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong report writing skills.
- Be proficient in MS Office and be familiar with databases.
- Have access to reliable transportation.
- Be able to manage occasional exposure to vicarious traumatic stress.
