Calgary, Canada The Mustard Seed Society Full time

The **Community Liaison Worker **_(Community Impact Centre Summer Student)_ will participate in and facilitate programs which are essential to the alleviation of poverty and homelessness and build healthy relationships between stakeholders in The Mustard Seed’s diverse community. This position will help run existing programs in our Community Impact Centre locations (Marlborough CIC), assist in front desk duties and work alongside clients to foster relationships and develop client led programs.

**Hourly Rate**:$20.00 hourly
**Schedule**:35 hours per week (8 weeks/Total: 280 hours)
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8:00AM to 4:00PM, and Tuesday, Thursday at 11:00AM to 7:00PM

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Plan and implement community activities for clients
- Assist with our Community Impact Centre Program host duties
- Liaise with the leaders of groups attending the programs
- Facilitate programming with program volunteers and when volunteer(s) is absent
- Assist volunteers and/ or practicum students in program facilitation
- Jointly organize activities with the external and internal resources
- Attend staff meetings and other training as required
- Other duties as assigned

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**
- Between the ages of 15 - 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
- Diploma or degree in related field is an asset
- Experience working with vulnerable clientele and facilitating programming
- Empathy for the vulnerable and a desire for greater understanding concerning poverty and justice issues in an urban center
- Strong computer, communication and conflict resolution skills
- Interest and skills in recreational activities is an asset
- Strong team building skills

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Working environment will include indoor and outdoor activities, office work on computer, lifting and some travel will be required
- Evenings and weekends hours maybe required to accommodate the hours of the community impact centres
- Physical and mental effort will be moderate
- Valid Driver’s License, Driver’s Abstract and Employment Security Check is required

**ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR CANADA SUMMER JOBS**
- Be between 18 and 30 years of age
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
- Not a member of the Immediate Family of the Employer or a member of the Immediate Family of an officer or director of the Employer
