**The Opportunity**

Are you an organized and strategic thinker with a passion for procurement? We're seeking a Purchaser to join our procurement department. The Purchaser’s primary responsibility is to ensure the timely availability of all hard goods, materials and plants essential for greenhouse and nursery operations. You will be tasked with procuring these materials at the most competitive prices without compromising quality. This role requires strategic sourcing, effective negotiation, and diligent follow-up to support the company’s operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Our Procurement Department focuses on developing cost-saving measures, improving purchasing efficiency, and maintaining quality. **Responsibilities**
- **Procurement of Hard Goods & Operating Materials**:_
- **Strategic Sourcing**: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for hard goods and plants, including but not limited to plastic pots, trays, live plants, and other essential materials.
- **Order Management**: Place purchase orders, manage order confirmations, and track shipments to ensure timely delivery of goods.
- **Negotiation**: Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements to secure the best possible terms, ensuring cost savings without sacrificing quality.
- **Supplier Relationship Management**: Cultivate and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliability, quality, and long-term partnership.
- **Cost Efficiency**: Continuously seek opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency in the procurement process.
- **Product Development Collaboration**: Work closely with the product development team to source new items, aligning procurement strategies with product innovation.
- **Cross-Functional Support**_
- **Adaptability**: Assist in other areas as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to support the team in achieving overall business objectives.
- **Dynamic Responsibilities**: Be prepared for shifts in duties and responsibilities throughout the year as business needs evolve.

**Qualifications**
- **Education**: Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) focusing on strategic, operations, or supply chain management or equivalent education and experience.
- **Experience**: Ideally, two or more years of experience in a purchasing role.
- **Attitude and Drive**: A positive, can-do attitude with a strong drive to succeed is critical. The ability to take ownership of the role and consistently go the extra mile is essential.
- **Professionalism**: Maintain an upbeat and professional demeanour, demonstrating respect for colleagues and suppliers.
- **Continuous Improvement**: Exhibit a continuous desire to improve every aspect of the business, contributing to the company’s long-term success.

**Skills**
- **Technical Proficiency**: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially in Excel, is required.
- **Dedication and Organization**:This role demands a dedicated and organized individual with strong attention to detail and technical aptitude.
- **Teamwork and Composure**:It is crucial to remain calm under pressure and work effectively as part of a team.
- **Multi-Tasking**: Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills are necessary to manage the dynamic demands of the role**.**

**Reporting Structure**

The purchaser will report to the procurement manager, maintaining regular communication with weekly one-on-ones to share successes, address challenges, and ensure alignment with company goals. Consistent communication with sales, operations, logistics and growing teams is required to ensure seamless coordination across departments.
