The Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency is responsible under this operating charter for stewarding and operating a relevant, accessible and responsive industry-led trades training and certification system, and improving access to and participation in the system by Aboriginal persons, African Nova Scotians, differently-abled persons, immigrants, women and members of other under-represented groups. The Agency, through its Youth Outreach Coordinator and funded partners, reaches over 20,000 Nova Scotian youth annually to provide information, awareness and experiential opportunities to youth regarding skilled trades careers.

**About Our Opportunity**:
The Youth Outreach Coordinator leads and administers NSAA’s Youth Programs in the province by maintaining agreements supporting collaborative relationships with sector councils, education and training providers, employers, industry, labour organizations as well as community and career resource service providers. In this role you work closely with apprenticeship partners to develop sustainable pathways in the designated trades, which includes direct entry apprenticeship opportunities for youth.

The Youth Outreach Coordinator responsibilities include:

- managing agreements in LaMPSS for Youth Programs and initiatives funded by the Agency,
- maintaining and updating new and existing funding agreements with Techsploration, Building Futures for Youth, Test Drive, Serve It Up, Skills Canada-Nova Scotia, the Trades Exhibition Hall, and the Mobile Construction Experience, for example,
- working with Regional Centres of Education (RCEs), CSAP, and the Mi’kmaw Kina’matnewey (MK) board to support youth experiences in the skilled trades, which involves presentations to youth,
- compiling and maintaining youth engagement data collected via agreement reports and Youth Outreach Coordinator activities undertaken.

As the Youth Outreach Coordinator, you work closely with the Youth Pathways Consultants to prepare and deliver presentations to schools, parents, and youth, and coordinate with NSAA’s partners to provide Youth Apprenticeship information sessions as needed.

This position reports to the Manager, Youth & Equity Programs.

**Primary Accountabilities**:
The Youth Outreach Coordinator responsibilities include:

**Qualifications and Experience**:
A university degree plus five years program administration and development experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience, such as program development related to youth employment, presentations, developing partnerships and leading initiatives will be considered.

Critical to this position is the proven ability to engage in program planning with partners and note service delivery issues that may arise, including monitoring and maintaining program budget, and general agreement oversight.

You demonstrate strong project and program management skill, are well organized and capable of prioritizing work under pressure to meet tight timelines and provide the highest standard of personal ethics with mínimal supervision and direction. The incumbent must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively liaise with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Knowledge of and experience with general office software is a requirement (Microsoft Word, Power Point, Outlook, Excel, Internet etc.).

- lead, coordinate, conduct, and support program/project management and implementation

- communicate concepts, issues and opportunities clearly and effectively in both oral presentation and written materials to audiences with varying levels of related experience/understanding.
