- The International Student Life Supervisor (ISLS) is an expert on international student engagement services and programs that support holistic student success. Holistic student success knowledge includes best practices on how to support students’ academic, career, community-integration, immigration, and health and wellness outcomes. The ISLS is responsible for leading and supervising the team of International Student Life Coordinators (ISLCs) who provide the front-line wayfinding and general student service 1:1 support to international students; offer co-curricular education for international students in the form of orientations and online courses; run a range of student success programs independently and in partnership with other service areas; and organize and deliver student engagement events online and on campus to foster a sense of community. The ISLS deals with high energy periods of work and high volumes of information. Multiple projects are often on the go simultaneously and the ISLS utilizes project management tools, independent decision making, and prioritization skills to know when to work side-by-side with their team to complete projects, work with their Manager to organize more resources, and when to leverage College-wide knowledge and resources to achieve strategic goals of the division and College. The ISLS is an excellent project manager and customer service oriented individual.
- The ISLS is also central to accurate and regular communication with both new and existing international students via regularly scheduled communications that recur across all three semesters. In partnership with the Marketing and Communications Office (MCO), the ISLS manages communications planning, execution, and reporting on communication efficacy to achieve communications improvement semester-over-semester. Online co-curricular courses, workshops, community outings, online events and social media engagement all contribute to the student experience and are planned, scheduled and coordinated by the ISLS working with the ISLC team. The ISLS maintains a strong network throughout Douglas College student service-related areas to ensure student success programming is delivered in an integrated fashion; partners include, Student Affairs and Services (SAS) - Student Life, Career Centre, Learning Centre, the Library, and the Douglas Students Union (DSU).**Responsibilities**

**1. International Student Service Leadership**
- a. Selects, organizes, and presents information for front line staff knowledge repositories related to common student inquires and procedures in a searchable user-friendly system or format.
b. Creates and oversees systems for tracking and reporting student services delivered.
c. Supports the Manager of ISS when responding to student emergencies by providing supporting triage of the situation, providing research on presenting issues when requested, and providing follow-up as part of the solution.
d. Coordinates staff ongoing revision of DCI procedures and service standards annually to ensure Douglas International Service standards reflect best practices and meet international student service expectations.
e. Resolves student, employee and public concerns and complaints.
f. Provides expert guidance to staff solving complex problems resulting in resolution and staff learning.
g. Recommends professional development annually, or as needed, to the International Student Services (ISS) Manager for the ISLCs staff related to international student success events and programming and/or customer service topics.
h. Designs and implements student feedback on services; interprets results and determines implications; communicates relevant information, and recommends improvements to practice.
i. Contributes to training manuals, DCI policy and onboarding guides for supervised staff positions.
j. Participates on select college-wide committees to represent Douglas International and international students.

**2. Communications and Information Management**
- a. Acts as liaison with the Marketing and Communications Office to support development of the annual communications plan and any large event specific communications plans; implements communications plans to keep international students up-to-date on relevant student success programming related to immigration, academics, community connections, health and wellness, or career development opportunities.
