**Job Description: Construction Foreperson**

**Position Overview**:
A construction foreperson, also known as a construction foreman or construction supervisor, plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating construction activities on job sites. They are responsible for supervising a team of workers, ensuring work is completed efficiently, maintaining safety standards, and communicating with various stakeholders to ensure project success.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Team Supervision and Coordination**:
Supervise and provide guidance to a team of construction workers, subcontractors, and tradespeople.

Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring they have the necessary resources and tools to complete their work.

Coordinate work schedules and adjust as needed to meet project timelines and deadlines.

Monitor work progress, provide feedback, and address any performance or conduct issues.

**Project Planning and Execution**:
Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to understand project goals, specifications, and timelines.

Develop work plans and strategies to achieve project objectives, including resource allocation and material management.

Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.

Monitor construction progress, quality, and compliance with building codes, regulations, and safety standards.

Make decisions and solve problems that arise during the construction process to keep the project on track.

**Safety and Quality Assurance**:
Enforce safety protocols and ensure adherence to occupational health and safety regulations.

Conduct regular site inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards and promote a safe working environment.

Implement quality control measures to maintain construction standards and ensure compliance with project specifications.

Collaborate with safety officers and other stakeholders to address safety concerns and provide training as needed.

**Communication and Reporting**:
Serve as the primary point of contact for communication between project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.

Provide regular updates on project progress, including milestones, challenges, and changes to the project scope.

Prepare and submit progress reports, daily logs, and other required documentation.

Participate in meetings, site visits, and inspections with project stakeholders.

**Equipment and Resource Management**:
Ensure proper utilization, maintenance, and care of construction equipment, tools, and machinery.

Coordinate equipment rentals, repairs, and replacements as necessary.

Monitor and manage material inventory, including ordering and tracking supplies to avoid delays or shortages.

**Leadership and Mentorship**:
Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a strong work ethic.

Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior team members to foster skill development and promote a positive work environment.

Foster teamwork, collaboration, and effective communication among construction crew members.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
- Completion of a post-secondary program in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field can be an asset but is not mandatory.
- Possessing relevant certifications or licenses like construction project management, occupational health and safety, or specific trades can be asset.
- A valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation may be required.
- Experience in the construction industry, including experience in a supervisory or leadership role, is required.
- Familiarity with different construction trades, processes, and building codes is important.
- Strong knowledge of construction practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Understanding of relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards in Ontario.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Knowledge of construction equipment, tools, and materials, as well as their proper usage and maintenance.
- Familiarity with construction project management principles and methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with team members, stakeholders, and clients.
- Leadership abilities to supervise and coordinate a construction team.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and meet project deadlines.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and a commitment to promoting a safe work environment.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Casual

**Salary**: $26.00-$38.00 per hour
