Manufacturing Unit Leader

Responsibilities & Qualifications:
The Manufacturing Unit Leader (MUL) is responsible for achieving the performance plan goals of one of the designated manufacturing units. The MUL assists the Operations Leader in the development and attainment of the overall Kingston Works business objectives. The role is responsible for leading a cross-functional team to deliver results on targeted Focused 5 goals within their designated manufacturing unit.
**They do this by**:
- Ensuring EHS policies and procedures are aligned with the Novelis Safety System and 6S principles and adhered to enable attainment of safety objectives.
- Developing, implementing, and auditing the effectiveness and compliance to control plans, standard operating procedures and failure modes and effects analysis to improve gross & length recovery on all products run across the manufacturing unit.
- Under the direction of the Quality Leader, monitoring all whole unit losses and claims generated/booked at the manufacturing unit and leads all interim and permanent corrective actions to resolve.
- Meeting or exceeding quality and service requirements of customers.
- Supporting value stream customer satisfaction and on-time, in-full objectives in all activities across the manufacturing unit.
- Being the primary point of contact for all manufacturing unit unplanned downtime events with accountability to reduce unplanned downtime events and their duration.
- Sponsoring, leading and/ or directing all capital (and expense) activities at the manufacturing unit focused on capacity and productivity improvements to meet the site strategic business plan.
- Meeting annual and monthly budget guidelines and reporting status on a monthly basis.
- Encouraging and supporting employee involvement and development.
- Coaching team members in developing problem-solving, decision-making and team skills.
- Leading a culture of accountability.
**The successful applicant will have**:
- A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a technical or manufacturing field
- Experience in leading organizational changes.
- Familiarity with principles of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence others
- Experience leading, motivating and developing teams.
- Demonstrated ability to balance multiple and changing priorities and make decisions using independent judgment under time constraints.
