Position Overview:
As a member of Novelis Kingston Roll Grinding Shop, Roll Grinders are responsible for supporting the manufacturing process to achieve our Focused 5 goals.

**The Roll Grinder supports our Focused 5 goals by**:

- Loading rolls or other parts into the grinder and making routine adjustments until specified contour and finish is obtained.
- Performing instrument check of surface roughness. Checking diameter with micrometer, skating work roll with pumice saddle soap and logging roll data in shop computer.
- Cleaning, oiling, paper-wrapping and identifying finished rolls.
- Slinging loading and operating pendant-controlled crane to move rolls and equipment from one location to another within the shop.
- Selecting, mounting, and dressing grinding wheels.
- Performing daily checklists including but not limited to sump additive concentration and making adjustment as the need arises.
- Keeping work area clean and tidy.
- Participating in continuous improvement events.

**The successful team member in this role will have**:

- A minimum of 3 yrs. experience as a licensed machinist or completion of equivalent trade program and related experience will also be considered.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 products (including excel) and willingness to learn custom programmed software.
- Eagerness to learn, keeping training records up to date and current.
- Great interpersonal skills to problem solve and support the team.
- Ability to work independently as the business need arises.
- An innovative mindset continually developing and improving best practices.
- A desire to operate in a fast-paced environment, with ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work.
- Ability to work day and night shifts on a continental rotation (14 shifts, rotating every 28 days).
